Starting in late 1970, the girls sparsely worked together, including a gig for a concert for the Red Cross, and in 1971 they sang backing vocals on each other's songs. It was a new experience for them singing together, so by 1972, they decided to work together officially. They didn't think of a name for themselves yet so they decided to refer to themselves as "Anna & Anni", they nicknames at the time.
Under that name they released their very first album 'Ring Ring' in 1973. The album did very well in Sweden, as well as the girls' native Norway, but they wanted to spread their wings and expand their horizons.
"You know, we could try for Eurovision." Said Agnetha.
"I think it's worth another shot." Said Anni-Frid.
They performed 'Ring Ring' at Melodifestival in early 1973, but only came 3rd in the contest. But the fans were outraged, and so the company was convinced to let the public vote on the songs too.

"We could try again next year." Said Anni-Frid.
"I'm all for it." Said Agnetha.
In the meantime, they enjoyed success in Europe. They even performed in Germany! It was their first time being outside the Nordic countries.
"Germany is in my blood, yet I don't know the language. No part of me feels German." Said Anni-Frid, as she and Agnetha flew to Germany.
"And that's ok. There's nothing wrong with that. Germany isn't a part of your life." Said Agnetha.
"I know." Said Anni-Frid. "It just feels surreal, they're basically strangers related to me."

Regardless, they did have fun in Germany, sightseeing and trying their food. And they returned just in time for Agnetha's sister Lotta's wedding to her British fiance, George.
The couple decided to have two weddings, one in London, where he was from, and one in Sweden, so that both sides could witness the weddings.
"Agnetha, I would really love it if you and Anni-Frid could sing at our wedding." Said Lotta.
"We'd be honored!" Said Agnetha.
The women sang a romance song as Lotta danced with her new husband. They were so happy for them. They were going to divide their time between England and Sweden.
In the meantime, the girls' musical at was becoming so popular they started touring nationally!
