Chapter 11 - International Recognition At Last!

By this time, the girls became the ladies we know today as "ABBA". They won the 1974 Melodifestivalen and were now going to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton in the UK!

The song was the catchy hit 'Waterloo'. Lily, Agnetha's stepmother couldn't help but hold a celebratory dinner in their honor.

"We didn't actually win the Eurovision Song Contest yet." She said humbly.

"My dear, you won the Melodifestivalen! That's a LOT!" She replied, proud of her stepdaughter.

The next day she dropped them off at the airport where they flew first class flight to England.

After resting the night at the hotel, the girls prepared for the competition.

"This is it..." Said Agnetha.

"Just breathe, we'll be ok." Said Anni-Frid helping Agnetha soothe her nerves.

The adrenaline was high, and the women got on stage to sing their song. Their family members back in Sweden and Norway watched the live show as they cheered them on.

The ladies got out onto the stage, seeing all those thousands of people in the arena. They were nervous, but they had each other, and once they started singing, the nerves melted away.

Afterwards, they felt great! Then they went backstage while the other Eurovision acts did their songs, and then, the time came to announce the scores, and ultimately the winner!

The girls waited in suspense. They knew there were many other countries participating, but they had a chance because they were 'in it'! And they had to be 'in it to win it'.

"The winner of the ESC 1974 is... SWEDEN!"

The girls couldn't believe it! It was so surreal it was like a dream! They WON!

They went up on stage to collect their flowers and ESC trophy. They kissed as they were so happy, congratulating each other before giving a winning, encore performance of 'Waterloo'.

As the girls prepared to go home they were startled by a group of people shouting "SURPRISE!"

Aunt Britta, along with her family, Lili and Lotta came to England to surprise the women!

"Omigosh, what are you all doing here?" Asked Agnetha, very surprised.

"We wanted to surprise our princesses!" Said Britta's husband.

"Congratulations on winning the contest!" Said Britta. "We're so proud of you!"

"And we're not alone..." Said Lili. She stretched out her hand, and in came Anni-Frid's relatives!

"My aunts! My cousins!" She cried as she ran to hug them all!

"You did this?!" Agnetha asked Lili.

"Yes, my angel. We all knew you would win, and I wanted to organize this, so I could see your happy faces!" Said Lili.

Agnetha hugged Lili as Anni-Frid greeted all her relatives.

"Well you two must be exhausted!" Said Lili.

"Let's get these girls back to the hotel!" Said Britta, so they all went to the hotel as it was late and got some sleep. The girls, however, had other plans before sleep.

They really fancied those 'Waterloo' costumes on each other. Anni-Frid loved the blue on Agnetha, and orange really suited Anni-Frid in Agnetha's mind. Once Agnetha stripped down to her white bra and panties, she helped Anni-Frid unbutton her top and slide it down her arms.
