shuttling a few dozen crates about. I’ll go and talk to our passenger and you get on the net and see what, if anything, is out there. I’ve heard the stories myself from dad. He was obsessed with treasure hunts. Hell, half the database is filled with them. Look through dad’s notes and let me know.”
Once her second left the cramped booth to go get the ship ready captain Rook Delate motioned the man over from where he sat at the bar with a wave of her hand.
“Will you do the job?” He asked sliding into the booth as he twirled the little umbrella in his fingers and gave her a wide smile.
Her first thought was to punch him for some strange reason but instead said, “Yea, I want the credits up front and wire transferred to this account,” She slid a small disk over to him. “You have twenty-four hours to transfer the credits or the deals off. Be at slip 57C this time tomorrow.”
Rook slid gracefully out of the booth dropping a few coins on the chipped laminate table and walked across the crowded bar avoiding a few beings who were passed out on the floor.
Professor Ryan looked after her as she walked away. Black leather pants with a single cobalt blue stripe sewn down the outside seem flowed into military style black boots. Her single blaster was tied down low to a firm thigh. A black leather jacket was cropped to her slim waist where a sliver of creamy white skin was exposed. His thoughts drifted further into the gutter but were just as quickly yanked back as a Dorian sat down in the booth.
“Pretty thing she is.” The Dorian said with more than desire of his own.
“What do you want Shawb? I thought I told you to get lost.” Ryan said sarcastically.
“I don’t know why you want her for the job. I can do it just as well for half the price.”
Ryan leaned over the booth to get as close as he dared to the foul stench the Dorian emitted.
“After what you did to the University personnel on Bothos IV your reputation as reliable has something to be desired.”
The Dorian grinned a malicious grin. “That was a misunderstanding.”
Ryan rolled his eyes. “A misunderstanding doesn’t kill thirty seven people and destroy several million credits worth of experimental government equipment.”
