the night before was still very much in charge of his system even at this time of day.
But instead he seemed to have cleaned up rather nicely, if she had a say in the matter. Shaved and dressed in pressed tan khaki pants and light blue shirt, though it was buttoned all the way to the top. His feet were bare and his hair still damp and a bit disheveled from a shower. Rook had to admit, only to herself, that this was an improvement over his impression from last night.
"May I come in?" Rook asked as she walked past him into the room.
A suitcase was sitting on the floor by the vanity and a second computer sat on the small desk next to the other. The chair for the desk was slightly askew telling her that he was using it for something though the screen was blanked out.
"What are you working on?" Rook asked as she went to tap on the small keyboard to bring the screen up.
"Just some boring professor things for the school."
The screen brightened and showed the crest of the school and a place for a pass code to be entered. Rook frowned at that but turned to Ryan with a forced smile. His, she noted was the same as before and again she felt like hitting him just for the principal of it.
"We should be at Krontos in about nine hours. What's the plan?"
Rook said as she wondered about the room looking around trying to look casual about snooping what few things he had brought.
"Well, I've contacted the authorities on Krontos and let them know when we'll be there and to get the permits in line." Which was about half of what he needed to do and it was all he was going to give her at this time. He smiled again when she turned towards him.
"Don't keep smiling at me. I'll think you're up to something." Rook's eyes narrowed slightly.
Ryan waited a few minutes before leaving his quarters and started forward following the small layout on his palm unit. With the ship as small as it was it didn't take him long to get to the forward torpedo bay. He anticipated the need to override a security pad but found it had been replaced with a simple open and close touch pad. That concerned him until he opened the door and the lights flooded the compartment.
The torpedo racks and mechanisms were still in place but instead of torpedos the room was being used as a storeroom. Boxes and loose parts were cluttered all over the racks. He had hoped that the ship was still a
