--Fox's P.O.V--
I turned the brightly colored ray gun over in my fingers, taking continuously deep breaths. We were in the weapon room, and we all got the choice of two weapons.
In my other hand I held a dagger, and I studied it carefully. It was then that I took the chance to really study the people around me:
Ferris Roads was a powerful man. Even after months of barely eating, cramped spaces, and horrible living conditions, anyone who could see could still see his lean muscles against him. He had numerous tattoos in numerous places. His power was interesting: He could literally make you see your worst nightmare. Say you were deathly afraid of snakes: One look in his eyes, and you'd be in a pit of deathly venomous, aim-to-kill vipers. And it got worse from there. Let's just say it wasn't a fun experience. His weapons of choice were an axe and a revolver.
Lewis Pine was an older man. He had white hair and wore a frown. He wasn't in great condition, and if we were planning to kill each other, he'd probably be dead first. But his power made up for it, mostly; He could levitate. He couldn't go anywhere, but he could, in fact, float. His chosen weapons were a double-edged sword and a ray gun of his own, it's color being a bright blue.
Sara Wheat was around seven or eight. Poor kid could barely control her powers yet- but she was getting there. The curly haired child could control water- she almost reminded me of Scar. Her hair was in tangly ringlets that hadn't been brushed since who knows when. Her pale completion made her that much prettier- but she couldn't hide the nervousness inside of her. She hadn't chosen her weapons yet.
Cameron Bleu was around my age, with shaggy black hair and striking green eyes. He wore a suspicious smirk- I didn't trust him, and neither did anyone else. But he had agreed to the plan- I was just hoping he'd go through with it. The kid could shapeshift into anything. People, buildings, animals, even shoes if he felt the need. However shady he might be, he'd be very helpful when we break out. If we break out. His weapons of choice were a whip and a sword.
You already knew me- Hope Fox. In case Jett didn't tell you already, I can see things- visions of the past, the future. It isn't helpful in a battle, but if you've seen what your opponent will do before they actually do it, it's helpful on the offense. My choice weapons were a dagger and a neon yellow ray gun.
The girl sitting beside me was Mia Sloan. Her thick brown hair and perfect figure made her prettier than I would ever be. Her muscular arms were tanned, and she held her weapons in her hands: a pistol and a hand grenade. She could heal instantly, but was able to be killed. She wouldn't tell anyone where her weak spots where, though; I wasn't sure she knew herself.
I studied our bunch carefully; this would be the last time I'd get to see them clearly until we were free. After Sara chose her weapons, we'd move along to stage presentation; basically another term for hair and makeup. You'd be surprised how much is put in to prepare the Chosen for the Battles. Then on to the battle field.

Now we were being ushered to stage presentation in a single file line; there, a team of people would measure, size, and pick out the "perfect outfit" for us, then cut and fix our hair, and do our makeup as well.
I was nervous by now, I will admit. I hoped Jett was still doing okay, and everything was going according to plan. If not, we're screwed, to put it nicely.
Once we got there, the process began quickly; I was quickly measured for height, length, width, and whatnot. I was soon dressed in a pair of ripped black high-waisted shorts with a neon yellow tank top tucked into them. I also wore a slim-fitting black leather jacket, with black high-tops. The jacket had pockets big enough to hold my dagger if needed, and my shorts had a belt and yellow holster to match my yellow ray gun.
My mass of fiery red hair, after several minutes of brushing and teasing, was finally straightened and left to hang loose. My makeup was done quickly, then I was ready to go. (Thank God.)
I looked around at everyone else, as did they.
Then it was time to go. Time for action. I took a deep breath, and smiled down at Sara Wheat, who had taken hold of my hand. Tears threatened to fall down her pretty face, so I picked her up and held her close to me. She buried her head in my shoulder, and I just sighed to myself.
It was time for the Battles to begin.

--Jett's P.O.V--
It was almost time for the Battles to begin. I could only pray this would work now. As soon as the Battles began, I'd yell for us to go, and we'd go. The one accompanying me and myself, we'd open the door, then run to the weapons room to gather our supplies.
How will we get the door open, you might ask? When Fox and the other Chosen left, we left a small blanket caught in the doorway. There's barely a crack, but it can be opened.
Anyway, after getting the weapons, we'll swing by stage preparations and grab extra clothes and backpacks, and food, if they've got it.
By then, we'll be very close to the Battle doors, just in time for Fox and the Chosen to break free. We'd be off, on our own again, and we'd be okay. We've broken free before, so we know where to go.
Here we go.
