Chapter Two

Rebecca's POV:

"CRAP!!! I forgot my sports bag!!!! UGHHHH WHY DOES this ALWAYS happen to me..?" I groaned. Everyone in the locker room made eye contact with me, and I left extremely embarrassed. I'm always forgetting something. 'Way to be the main character Rebecca.' I told myself. I made my way to the gym where Maxi told me they practiced. I peeked into the gym and saw a guy with a blond Mohawk. "WOAH he spiked down that ball like a beast!" I thought as I stood there frozen.

Maxi noticed me and went right over to drag me into the gym. She wore a black sleeve on her left arm, 'probably for when she blocks spikes.' She then started to explain,

"This is a practice match against the boys, but it's also a try out for both our teams." I nodded, and she explained more and more to me. "We will beat that idiot, make sure he doesn't see it coming."

'Personal grudge much? ^^;'

Maxine's POV:

Before we started the game, Tetsuro and I shook our hands. "Whoever wins owns the other something after the match." He replied with, "Deal, but no backing out Princess."

"It seems like you might back out, dumbass."

I walked back to the group of girls, and told them the boys would start serving first. I could tell some of them were nervous, especially the first years. I tell them to get into their starting positions. I stand right in front of the captain himself. Smirking at him I tell him,

"You should be careful who you block, Princey." He smirked as the whistle blew. They started out with a regular serve that made its way to our side. The ball got received by Rebecca, and then passed to the setter, Arashi Kin. I called for the ball as she set it to me with almost perfect accuracy. From my peripheral vision, I see Kuroo coming to block my spike, and I decide to do a faint. It drops on the boys' side before anyone can retrieve it. I smirk at Kuroo who wasn't even able to shout his one touch to his teammates. He smirks back at me, mentally telling me, he'll get us back. We rotate since we earned the point this time. It was my turn to serve, not that I had a powerful one, but I did have serves that could rock a team's dynamic. I started my serve, and hit it to the other side. The ball wavered in the air and curved towards the outline. No one called the ball as if they thought it was out, but it was called as in. Almost everyone looked back at me with wide eyes. I remade eye contact with Kuroo, smirking at him.

The girls took the first set 25-20 it was close, but we still took the set.

Rebecca's POV:

'Maxi is amazing! Her serves, blocking, spiking, everything! This must be how talented 3rd years are. And then there is me, making mistakes every other round.' I thought to myself. It was the boys turn to serve. Kuroo glanced at me and made his serve. I was not expecting to be targeted, the ball came my way so fast it hit me in the face. "OW!" I shrieked. Everyone proceeded, and we got the first point. I looked over at Maxi and I saw a dark look in her eye, she then shouted,

"Oi, pick on someone your own size Kuroo. You better make sure that you sleep with one eye open tonight."

I then looked at Kuroo who seemed to be scared half to death. I turned my attention back to myself and noticed I had a nose bleed. "I-I think I'm going to take care of this." I say covering my face. Maxi looks at Kuroo with a death glare, and then rushes over to me. She takes a small kit from her bag and tends to my nose bleed.

"You should be good to play in a couple of minutes, okay?" She said, with a soft smile.

I nodded as she went back to her position. 'How can someone become so sweet, when she was just planning someone's murder?' I thought.

A few rounds go by and Maxi calls me back into the game, It was Arashi Kin's turn to serve.

The set ended at 25-17 let's just say, I'm off my game, Half of their points were my mistakes. I shake it off and pull myself together. It was their turn to serve and I could see Maxi glaring at Kuroo.

"Maxi! Don't kill him just yet! I want my revenge!" I shouted over to her. She looked back at me.

"I can't make any promises dear." She said smiling. Kuroo serves and he doesn't aim at me, probably because he doesn't want to die tonight. Either way the ball was going to hit the floor, I received it and sent it to the setter for a spike. Unfortunately we were blocked and we lost the first point to the 3rd set. Maxi came over and patted my back as did some other players, and told me,

"Nice receive."

Sadly we lost the 3rd set to the boys team. I was disappointed I made so many mistakes, but they just barely won. "Maxi!" I called to her,

as she came over to me. "I'm sorry about all of my mistakes, I'll do better next time." I said bowing. I looked up at her smiling and then she told me,

"You did great today! No need to apologize, even I made some mistakes." She paused for a moment, and looked as if she solved a problem she had for a while. "I was thinking, what if you were my vice captain? I haven't been able to decide yet, and I think you'd be the perfect fit. And I promise next time we will leave those boys' in the dust."

"V-vice captain?! I would be honored!" I said in excitement.
