3rd POV:
Maxi woke up earlier than usual. She checked her phone to look at the time, and it said that it was four in the freaking morning. Knowing her, she wouldn't be able to fall asleep, she got out of her bed and made it all neat.
The halls looked dark but she worked her way around, not bumping into anything. She made her way to a random balcony and looked up at the not very bright stars. A tear dropped on the wooden support beam in front of her. She then whispered,
“How’s it going mom and dad?”
She crouched down into a cradled position and grabbed a granola bar.
It was the same day only seven years ago, that her parents died due to the car crash. She was in the back seat of the car when they were going to visit their family friends. Maxi was not a fan of going on long car drives and kept whining to her parents. Her mom scolded her, but her dad grabbed something out of his bag. He turned around to her and said,
“Maxi, why do you gotta be like this?”
“I hate how long it takes to get there.”
“Well take a granola bar,” her dad told her as he smiled at his little daughter.
She grabbed it in delight and was about to say thank you, but then heard her mother scream. Shards of glass flew everywhere as she saw her parents panic faces.
She hated that she could have been a better daughter. If her father focused on the road they would still be here. It was all her fault that they were gone. She got some scars from that day, mainly on her legs, which she usually covered, and some little ones on her arm. Most of the big ones were on her left arm, either covered with makeup, if she was wearing short sleeves, or covered with clothing.
She looked up from her crunched position and saw the nearly crushed granola bar under her hand. Before the stars could disappear from the sun’s rays, she went over to the railing and opened her granola bar, and whispered a thank you.
It was five forty five by the time she got back from the balcony. She made her way to the bathroom and freshened up. She made sure to have no puffy eyes, and to replace the sad face with a happy grinning one. It was easy to fake being happy, she has been doing it for about seven years of her life.
She knew that she needed to stay positive for her teammates, for anyone who was close with her, all she needed was no one to worry about her.
By lunch they only won two games and lost their last, which resulted in diving drills for everyone. She went over to the kitchen and started making food for everyone. She decided that a simple dish would be the best for everyone’s liking.
After she was done with cooking up to the food, having Reba take a little nap. She took the food to the dining hall. She then walked over to Coach Nekomata and asked,
“May I leave a little bit early today? I need to take care of something back at home.”
“You must be back by the time lunch ends,” he said, warning her.
“Yes sir, that’s about an hour and a half if I’m not mistaken.”
She took her leave without telling anyone not wanting anyone to console her, after all she only had an hour and a half.
When all three of her friends got to the dining room, they saw no sign of her. Kuroo told them that he would ask Coach Nekomata about her.
When he got back, he told them that Coach told him she had to leave for family matters.
