Rebecca's POV:
Hectic Golden week ended, and I was just about done with 'bad news'. I just couldn't wrap my head around me, going back to America.
"How am I going to tell Kenma? Do I tell him over text? What about before the bus ride home?" I thought to myself, packing my things.
"Alright team, good work this week," Maxi said, as we were lining up to get on the bus.
"I have seen a lot of improvement from each of you, but when we get back, some of you have summer homework to finish." She said, looking me in the eyes.
"Oh come on, I'm not the only one." I thought, breaking eye contact with her.
I was the last in line, so I got whatever seats were left on the bus. Maxi signaled me to sit next to her, but I went to sit in the back instead. I sat next to the window, and no one was next to me.
"Well this is nice, I'll have some time to unwind," I thought, pulling out my headphones. Normally, I always stare out the window thinking about weird and random things, but I was really antsy. So I just pulled out my DS and played that instead. I couldn't focus on my game either, so I started thinking on how I would tell Kenma that I'm going back to America.
"Okay, it's only for a week. So should I straight up tell him? Or should I take him out somewhere to tell him? Ughhh why does this have to be so HARD! What would Kenma say?" I thought, starting to mimic Kenma's resting face.
"What's bothering you? Oh, you're going back to America? Cool, bring back something cool." Wait, why did I just think he wouldn't care? Am I that depressed?
While I was thinking, I heard someone switch seats. I didn't think much of it, until I glanced at my side and saw Maxi sit down next to me. I jumped, not expecting to see someone next to me.
"I hope you know, I really am sorry," she said to me, looking at her fingers.
"Y-yeah I know, I only shooed you away because I was overwhelmed. I'm not mad, or salty at you," I said, "Okay well, that last part wasn't fully true. I was salty at you yes, but not anymore." I said with a little giggle.
"Who knew you could be salty?" Maxi and I laughed a bit, "I have two things to say. One, the team and I have a surprise for you when we get back. And two, I believe in you."
"Neawww thank ya very much ma'am,"
"I do expect you to watch us live though," Maxi said with a joking tone.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world," I said with a closed eye smile.
"Thanks," Maxi said, "I'm gonna take a nap so don't mind me." I giggled a bit, and just stared out the window.
3rd POV:
Both of the buses rolled in front of the school as the students stepped off, well except for Maxi and Reba. Maxi was asleep on Reba's shoulder as Reba was trying to figure out a way to wake her up. She then said,
"Is that free granolas I see?"
"What, where?" Maxi immediately woke up and looked around. She then stared at Reba and complimented her,
"Good one, I will get you next time."
She got up and took her things then walked off the bus. She then said sorry to the driver for being asleep for too long. Right when she got off the bus, Kuroo was waiting for her. As soon as he saw her he came to her and hugged her. Of course she hugged back, but then it got too long.
"Tetsuro... you good?"
"No," he said rather quickly.
"Stop acting like a puppy, we can hang out today if you'd like."
"Yes please," he almost jumped, letting go of Maxi.
"Let's go before the sun sets, I hate walking at night."
After a long ride to the houses, all four of them walked with tired looks on their faces. Reba and Maxi walked in front of Kuroo and Kenma as they were talking about something. Suddenly they both started laughing. Kuroo and Kenma looked at the snorting Maxi, then Reba joined in with her more controlled snort of a laugh. They stopped to catch their breath as they both looked at Kenma and Kuroo, and their faces were kinda confused. Beyond their knowledge, Kuroo was enjoying hearing Maxi's weird laugh.
The three of them said goodbye to Reba as she turned to go to her house. Kuroo jokingly shouted,
"Bring us some souvenirs, will ya?"
Reba's smile instantly left her face, as she remembered her trip to America.
"Oi, that's not funny," Maxi said as she elbowed him lightly.
"What?" Kenma said in confusion. He turned to Reba and tilted his head,
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"O-oh uh," she stuttered, remembering she still hasn't told Kenma yet, "I'll, uh, I'll tell you later, I promise." He nodded, as they continued to walk home together.
Maxi and Kuroo made their way to the apartments, and Kuroo told Kenma he'd probably see him tomorrow to play video games or something. Maxi opened the door and asked Kuroo,
"So what do you want to do? I can make us a snack or we can pop in a movie."
"Can we just cuddle?" he asked rather innocently.
"U-Uh, yeah sure," Maxi blushed, that little Tsundere.
Maxi wanted to enjoy this happy moment, since there might not be any after she gives the news to Kuroo.
