The whole drive back home I had all the windows down and the radio blasting, by radio I mean my phone plugged into the car. I have a weird taste in music, it ranges from Green Day, Jesus of Suburbia, to Lana Del Rey, Young and beautiful, to Flo Rida, Going Down For Real, I know weird mix but I like those songs for some reason.

Calum stayed close next to me or behind me and every time I looked at him through my mirror or window he was laughing, probably at me jamming out.

When I pulled into the garage, Calum parked behind me but in the driveway. Once he was parked he gathered his few belongings, besides the trash obviously, and walked inside through the garage to where I was awaiting him.

I didn't comment on the little amount of stuff he has in his hands but he did make a joke about me in my car," Innocent school girl by day and crazy party girl by afternoon?" I think he saw my attempt at dancing as well, and by dancing I mean moving my head and hips while attempting to keep two hands on the wheel, which fails miserably because I can't help but to dance whenever I hear those songs.

"Ha, ha, ha, very funny," I say sarcastically.

"I thought it was," Calum jokes. In perfect unison we laugh as we walk up the stairs to find Calum's new bedroom.

Since there is only like a pile of books, four pairs of pants, a few boxers, a pair of shoes, and a few shirts Calum doesn't take long put everything where he thinks it belongs in the room.

To break the silence I talk for the first time since Calum made a joke about me dancing in my car, I don't think Calum is comfortable here yet, " remind me to take you shopping," I laugh a little so he doesn't think that was meant to be harsh."sounds cool, I need a new style, I don't think this is really me," he says referring to the black athletic shorts, tennis shoes, and baggy T-shirt." No it is definitely not," I commented with a warm smile.

Once he is done we both sit on his bed to talk a little more because Ashton will be at my house in twenty minutes.

After a few moments of silence, not an awkward silence, a comfortable silence I say,"can I ask you a question?" He is a little taken back by my statement but replies,"of course you can, you know we can talk about anything," Calum says reassuring me.

"Why do you hang out with those deadbeats with no life, like Jasey?"

"I am one of those deadbeats with no life that's why," Calum replied with his nostrils flaring but his eyes said something different, they were kind and sad at the same time like a lost puppy.

"Lies, you actually go to school and obviously get good grades because your in all advanced placement classes with me and Delilah." I stated defending him.

"Yeah but just because of that doesn't make me better then them, if anything I'm worse because I am actually throwing potential away, not that I care, all I want to do with my life is play the bass."

"So then try to get into music school," I said raising my voice a little.

"You think I can afford that, I can barely afford food let alone a college tuition," Calum commented matching his tone and level of voice with mine.

"Me and my dad can help, plus you won't have to pay for food anymore," so the fight doesn't get too heated I bring the level of my voice way down.

"No, no, no, your dad has already given me a roof over my head I could never ask for more, now that I don't have to pay for gas, I will be saving every penny I get so by the time I turn eight-teen I will have enough money saved up to get my own apartment." Calum yelled.

"And what will happen when you run out of money, huh, will you run to the awful gang of yours." I accidentally screamed that, I just got so worked up and Calum was being so difficult that I just exploded, I didn't mean for that to happen.

Ouch, does she really think I would want to go back to that lifestyle, I thought she knew I was done with that.

"Is that really what you think of me, that I agreed with what they did and I am only staying by myself because life was going good for a single moment, no I ran away because life there was living hell, everyday I was afraid if they would spare my life, I got beat constantly, and I have seen them hurt way too many innocent people who didn't deserve what they got. Every day I saw new victims walk through the house, the whole time I was at that house I probably saw hundreds, mostly girls our age. Do you wanna know how hard it was to not stand up to them, tell them it's wrong, to not help those poor helpless girls." About halfway through I lost it and started to cry I couldn't contain my anger towards the things I have seen, they were things that no twelve year old boy should see, check that anyone should have to seen.

Anna didn't say anything she just hugged me, she always knew how to cheer me up, and she didn't even have to say anything to do it.

A beeping caused us to freeze until we remembered Ashton was picking us up, Anna went over to the window to yell to them,

" We will be down in a minute, you got here faster then expected and I need to find my wallet." Ashton gave her an approving smile before turning to talk to one of the other people in the van. I can already tell Ashton will be my favorite, he doesn't ask too many questions and he minds his business and I heard he can play the drums a little bit which is cool I guess, most people play the guitar which is pretty cliché, Luke plays the guitar but so does that kid Michael and he doesn't seem that bad but he is always with his girlfriend Delilah doing stupid couple things.

"Follow me into the bathroom, your eyes got just a little puffy and I'm sure you don't want them to know tough guy Calum Hood was having a small moment." She puffed out her chest when she said "tough guy" to mock me, I didn't really get offended by her statement I actually thought it was quite funny.

In the bathroom she applied a small amount of concealer, which was a little too light for me but it did make me look as good as new, you would of never known I had a small mental breakdown, which sadly occurs often.

Once she was done we walked out of the house,

"Don't you need to get your wallet?" I reminded her about half way done the long perfectly paved driveway.

"Nope I had it the whole time," we giggled until we approached the van containing her friends.

"Hey guys you all know Calum right?" I just sat there and awkwardly greeted them until Ashton was ready to go.

The seating arrangements were Ashton and Jasmine in the front, Michael, Delilah, and Nicole were in the middle and in the back was me, Luke, and Anna in the middle of us. Of course she ended up between us.
