chapter Nine

Josie P.O.V

I woke up the next morning feeling better.

I checked my phone and found texts and missed calls from Sheridan. I called her and told all that happened. She decided to take me out for dinner so that we talk.

After I got off the phone with Sheridan,I went to the bathroom and got ready then headed downstairs for breakfast.

My mum had prepared my favorite,bacon and eggs.

"What smells so nice in here",I said as I hugged my mum and Merijn.

"Oh honey,you awake .How are you feeling?" My mum asked as she hugged me back.

"Am much better mum,don't worry",I replied.

"Sorry about what happened sis",Merijn said.

"Thank you for your concern Merijn",I replied smiling.

Very soon we were all at the table,chatting as we ate. Then me mum and Jolanda cleaned up and got ready to go to the mall for a shopping spree my mum was paying for.

We had so much fun and lost track of time. It was almost 6:00pm ,I had to meet Sheridan. I parted ways with mum and Jolanda as they headed home and I went to the restaurant where me and Sheridan were having dinner.

"Sorry am late",I said as I dropped my coat and bag pulling Sheridan in for a hug.

"Ohh its okay love,I didn't wait long",she said hugging me back.

"I went shopping with mum and Jolanda and we lost track of time.So how was your day?" I asked .

"It was fine,glad you feeling better now. I was so worried about you" Sheridan said smiling.

We made our orders,ate,and chatted.

Then a man entered the restaurant with three children. I couldn't see his face but I just couldn't stop staring at how beautiful his children were. Sheridan too agreed that they were dazzling babies.

We continued eating but then one of the kids,the youngest starting crying. Her cries got louder and louder and it seemed her dad couldn't get her to quiet down.

"Poor baby,I wonder what could be bothering her." Sheridan said.

As her cries got louder,people in the restaurant started  glaring at the dad. I don't know what came over me,I stood up and approached their table.

"Is everything okay sir?",I asked with a concerned voice.

"uhmm.. Everything is...",he replied
His attention turned from the baby to me.

"Josie?",he said.

"oohh.Hi Mr Bent....sorry Matthew",I said

"What are you doing here?",he asked looking at me.
I hadn't looked at him the last night and damn he was handsome. I could get lost in his eyes.

"I am having dinner with my friend over there,but this little princess' cries got to me so I decided to check",I replied without embarrassing myself.

"Its now two days and she is cranky. I cant seem to quiet her",he replied in a sad tone.

"Can I hold her?",I offered.

He nodded and handed me the crying baby. I cradled her to my chest as I sang to her in her ear and rubbed her back. She started quieting down and slowly started dozing.

"I don't know what's happening with her but this is the second time I cant quiet her and a stranger does",Matthew said shaking his head.

"Its thing with babies,she is probably missing something. Where is her mom?if you don't mind me asking",I said.

" She is not in the picture.She left",he replied.

"Oh am sorry for asking",I said apologetically. Feeling a pang of guilt because of my question and his expressionless face as he answered me.

"No worries I get asked that alot of times",he replied. "You can give her to me and finish your dinner since she is sleeping",he continued.

As I handed her to him,she started whimpering again.

"May be I can keep holding her as you finish with the two. I am sitting over there with my friend.",I offered.

" I don't want to burden you,I can have her and we can go home so she doesn't remove the roof of this restaurant with her wails,"he chuckled.

" No its okay,besides these two cuties would love to eat out today",I said as I bent to their level.

"And what could be the names of the most beautiful and handsome babies I have ever seen?",I asked with a thinking expression on my face that made the two children giggle.

"My name is Latoya and am 6.My brother is leonidus and he is 4.And our baby is laquisha and she is 1.But you can call me toya and my brother Leon and baby quisha ",replied little girl.

"Those are beautiful names for beautiful babies",I said earning more giggles from the children.

I turned to look at Matthew and he was staring at us with a smile.

"I am going back to my table,talk later",I said snapping him out of his gaze.

"Ohh.. Ohh.. Okay,Later and I hope she wont burden you",he replied.

I just nodded and walked back to my table.

"Wow babes,I didn't know you so good with babies",sheridan said.

" I didn't know too till today",I replied and we burst into laughter.

We continued talking as we ate until it was time for Sheridan to leave all the time having little quisha asleep on my chest.

We said our goodbyes and I headed over to Matthew's table.....

Sheridan P.O.V

My friend called me in the morning and narrated her ordeal the previous night. I decided to take her out to dinner to make her feel better.

We talked over dinner and I realised how sweet my friend was. There was a man who entered the restaurant with 3 kids and one was cranky she offered to help.

We got to know ourselves better that evening and I wouldn't ask for a better friend.

"I am happy my friend is feeling better",I thought out loud as I turned the lights off and slept with a contented smile on my lips.

Best day ever....
