BEACON HILLS HIGH SCHOOL CARRIED A WEIRD LEGACY.

It didn't come in the form of state championships, or graduated students embarking on great adventures. It involved the teachers, and how every semester there seemed to be a new face standing in front of the classroom.

This time, his name was Mr. Douglas.

After a semester of biology, sophomores shifted to physics. Liam expected the class to drag like any other, and thought of ways to keep himself busy during the hour. Unfortunately, most of them included Hayden.

The very first day back in school, she no longer passed notes or played tic-tac-toe. Her brown eyes were glued to Mr. Douglas, her back straightened and notebook open. Giggles occasionally fell from her lips, which were always curled into a smile.

Corey acted in a similar manner, alerting Mason and causing him to worriedly look at Liam.

The two boys didn't understand everyone's fascination with Mr. Douglas.

He stood tall and looked young in comparison to past teachers. His blonde hair combed neatly to the side, adding to the classically handsome charm he wafted off. To Liam, the man dressed and looked like he was from the 1940s--so he didn't appreciate the sudden crush Hayden grew on him.

Mr. Douglas lectured on Schrodinger's cat but Liam couldn't bring himself to pay attention. He discreetly slipped his phone and sent a text.

To: Big Sis
new problem in the form of teacher. send help.

Within seconds, Sierra replied to his message--obviously bored in her own class across the school.

From: Big Sis
Is this an actual problem? Or are you intimidated by the physics teacher I keep hearing about?

Liam glanced up to make sure he was in the clear, Mr. Douglas still talking about quantum superposition. Seeing Hayden leaning forward in her seat, Liam guessed it was she who told Sierra about their new physics teacher.

To: Big Sis
how is it that you always know everything????

In an instant, Liam had his answer.

From: Big Sis
I'm a true empath, little bro. I could be in your mind and you wouldn't even know it. Now, be a good werewolf and pay attention to your teacher.

Liam withheld from rolling his eyes as his fingers flew across his screen. Mason heard the little scoff that escaped him, and realized his best friend was texting Sierra. He bit back a smile.

It seemed Liam had grown even closer to Sierra and Scott since the whole Beast incident ended. After listening to Liam's worry about her never forgiving him, it was nice to see them acting like siblings again. Any time Liam got bored in class, he always texted Sierra. Even though most of the time she was telling him to pay attention.
