Soooooo, I know I promised I'd post this yesterday, but I forgot... Again. I was at work from 7 in the morning to 4 in the evening, and then I helped my family with watering our garden and mowing the lawn, which took all evening (we also watched Gus on Disney+, but we'll just ignore that for right now.). Anyway, here is chapter 6 now. So sorry about the long wait for it.

When Addie got back to her room in Cody's house and closed the portal, she set the plate of cookies down on the bed and walked downstairs.

When she got halfway down the stairs, she saw Cody and four of his guards sharpening weapons like they were going to ambush something. They must have been coming to get me... Addie thought.

"Are you serious?" she said. "I told you I was coming back, and I did."

Cody turned to her. "Yes, but you are three and a half minutes late. I thought maybe you had changed your mind and wouldn't come back. And why are you covered in flour?"

"Because I had some fun with my friends." She said coldly.

"And that's why you're late?" He asked. "Because they tried to convince you to stay there?"

"Wow," Addie said. "You have absolutely no trust in me."

"It's not that." He argued. "It's that I didn't think you would come back on your own."

"Yeah," Addie said, crossing her arms over her chest. "You know what that's also called? Lack of trust!"

"When did you become so sassy?" He asked. "I wanted you to be caring and nice to me like you are to everyone else!"

"Well, news flash!" Addie said. "I've always been sassy, and so far, you haven't earned my caring and nice side."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Let's just go over the list, shall we?" Addie said. She counted the things off on her fingers. "You kidnapped my children. You tortured my husband out of pure jealousy. You flirted with a happily married woman. And on top of that, you made me lose another month of my life in that stupid arcade."

"Technically you were outside the arcade. And I did that because I needed to break the spell Eric had put on you that made you think you were in love with him. And clearly letting you go see him again strengthened the grip he has on your mind."

Addie groaned. "How many times do I have to say he isn't controlling me?"

"Until you believe that I'm right."

"Then I guess I had better get used to saying it constantly," Addie said coldly.

"Why do you have to disagree with everything I say?"

"Because everything you say is either wrong or stupid." Addie retorted.

Cody's face twisted to a look of anger. "I like to think I'm rather intelligent."

"If that's so," Addie said. "Then that means you've heard the expression 'if you love something let it go.'"

"Yes," Cody said. "I have heard that. But you made this deal, and now you are mine forever."

"I AM NOT A PRIZE TO BE WON!!!" Addie shouted before storming back upstairs to her room, slamming the door to make her point. She started pacing around the room angrily, muttering to herself.

Crayon poked his head out of Addie's bag that was still slung over her shoulder. "What's all the shouting about?" he asked, sounding like he had just woken up. He probably had. "Did you and Eric get into a fight?"
