I turned over with a yawn and reached towards my desk, searching for my phone. I read the numbers once the bright screen popped up. I let out a groan at how early it was.

I didn't get much sleep. Between thoughts of Bryan and the usual nightmares, my mind was way too preoccupied.

I was going to put the phone back down and try to close my eyes before mom called, but a small ding caught my attention. After opening the notification, I saw it was a message from Bryan.

Bry! 😍😋: gm

Wesy! 😫: morning

Wesy! 😫 : sry for yesterday

Bry! 😍😋: im srry too

Bry! 😍😋: still picking u up tho

Wesy! 😫: okay

I threw the phone on the bed with a sigh. Yesterday was so embarrassing and confusing. I didn't know whether avoiding what happened or addressing it would be better.

I moved the covers off me and got out of bed. I stretched out my arms, running my fingers through my hair after. I guess avoiding was the route for today.

I headed towards the bathroom and quickly started my daily routine. I was midway through brushing my teeth when my phone started ringing from the other room. I rolled my eyes before spitting out the toothpaste and rinsing.

I rushed back into my room, diving onto my bed for the phone. "Hello." I answered. "Hi sweetie." I could hear the smile in her voice. "Good morning. Have you gotten up yet?"

"Yeah, mom." I get up from the bed and headed over to my closet. "I'm getting dressed now."

"That's great, dear. Don't forget to call after school." She rushed out. "I have to go sweetie. Love you." She said before hanging up.

"Love you too." I mumbled into the empty room. I threw the phone back on my bed before running my fingers through my wardrobe. It sucks to have to do this everyday.

I settled for something simpler this time: an oversized hoodie and joggers. I grabbed some vans that would match before going back into the bedroom to get dressed.

My phone dinged again. I knew it was just Bryan telling me he was here. I snatched the phone from the bed and headed downstairs. I grabbed a apple from the kitchen and went outside where he was waiting.

I locked the door before heading over. "Hi." I mumbled, getting in the car. "Um. Hey." I didn't turn to look when he responded. I just stared at the familiar buildings as we drove by.

"Something wrong?" He asked eventually. I shook my head, still focused on the window. "If it's about yesterday-" He started. "There's nothing wrong, okay!?" I sighed at my outburst. "Sorry." He didn't respond.

The site of the school soon came to view. Once he parked, I launched to exit the car but the doors were still locked. "Bryan, the doors." I reminded him. I had turned towards him, waiting for him to respond in some way. "Bryan."

"I-" He looked down at his hands that were clutched tightly around the steering wheel. He sighed before continuing. "I have soccer practice after school so if you don't want to stay after or just don't want to ride back with me- Sorry. I don't know where I was going with that. Did you-"

"I'll find a ride." I spoke up, ending his rant. He nodded. "Can you unlock the doors now?" He moved his hands from the wheel and pressed a button on the door.

"Thanks." I mumbled, stepping out of the car. He said something in response that I could barely hear. I made nothing of it, choosing to head inside the school.

The halls were surprisedly less full than usual. There wasn't crowds of people running to be on time for class. It was just the normals who talk at their lockers or get their books. I guess it was still early.

I don't have friends to talk to or books to get so I headed straight to class. I wasn't the first there. Mira was there sitting in our unassigned seats.

I mentally sighed before joining her silently. I felt her shift at my presence but I ignored her reaction, taking a bite of my apple instead.

"You okay?" She said softly. I rolled my eyes. "Why does everyone keep asking that?" I grumbled. "Sorry." I let out a sigh. "Don't be. Apologies are useless anyway."

"You're just less lively today." I turned towards her with her statement. She immediately shrunk back, fidgeting with the pen in her hands.

"I shouldn't have made any assumptions though. Besides, you probably have assumptions about me." She finished lowly. I simply nodded, going back to my nearly finished apple.

I didn't know what to say. It was obvious she meant no harm. Yes, she did ditch me yesterday but did I really have to take my sour mood out on her.

I tossed my apple in the trash and turned to give Mira my full attention. "Um." She said, obviously confused. "Do you have a car?" She nodded. I smiled. "Great. We're going shopping after school."
