Rainbow's POV.
"A sing-off? Seriously, are you out of your mind?" I exclaimed, incredulous. Hunter's response was a cheeky grin, his eyes glinting with mischief. Before I could protest further, he took off like a shot, racing towards the room with the piano.
I sprinted after him, calling out in a futile attempt to stop him. "Hunter, wait!" But he was too fast, and he slipped into the room before I could catch up.
I sighed loudly, throwing up my hands in exasperation. "This is insane," I muttered, before pushing open the door and stepping into the room.
"Fine! Pick a song," I conceded, throwing up my hands in defeat. Hunter celebrated with an absurd chicken victory dance, flapping his arms and bobbing his head. I rolled my eyes, chuckling despite myself.
"'Can't Help Falling in Love,'" he declared, striking a dramatic pose.
"Elvis Presley? Seriously?" I raised an eyebrow, feigning skepticism.
Hunter shot me a mischievous glance. "You have something against the King?" he teased.
I smirked, playing along. "No, but I've got a thing against exaggerated love songs." I rolled my eyes for emphasis, careful not to reveal my true affection for Elvis Presley. That would only fuel Hunter's teasing, and I'd never hear the end of it.
As Hunter's fingers grazed the piano keys, the instrument came alive, releasing a rich, melodious sound that filled the room. His eyes closed, lost in the moment, he coaxed the piano to sing with a tender, passionate touch. It was as if he were reuniting with an old friend, or rather, a long-lost lover.
The way his fingers danced across the keys was a language all its own, a sensual, intuitive connection that transcended words. The piano responded to his caress, its notes swelling with emotion, a symphony of love and longing. It was a beautiful, wordless conversation, a testament to the deep, abiding connection between Hunter and his instrument.
As Hunter's fingers flew across the piano keys, his pace quickening with a playful wink in my direction, I couldn't help but laugh. The music was infectious, and I found myself twirling to the rhythm, my feet moving of their own accord.
"Come on, sing!" Hunter urged, his eyes sparkling with encouragement.
I cleared my throat, and the familiar lyrics began to flow from my lips like a gentle stream. "Wise men say only fools rush in... But I can't help falling in love with you..." The words poured out of me, a heartfelt expression of love and longing.
"Shall I stay? Would it be a sin? If I can't help falling in love with you?" I finished the first verse, and Hunter nodded enthusiastically, urging me to continue.
With renewed passion, I launched into the next verse. "Like a river flows surely to the sea... Darling, so it goes... Some things are meant to be... Take my hand, take my whole life too! For I can't help falling in love with you..." My voice soared, the emotions pouring out of me like a river overflowing its banks.
As I surrendered to the music, it coursed through my veins like lifeblood, setting my soul aflame. With eyes closed and arms outstretched, I twirled as if weightless, ready to take flight. My voice poured out, a joyous, uninhibited expression of love and longing.
"Like a river flows surely to the sea... Darling, so it goes... Some things are meant to be... Take my hand, take my whole life too... For I can't help falling in love with you... For I can't help falling in love with you."
As I hit the final high note, I froze, my chest heaving with exhilaration. Hunter leapt to his feet, applause thundering from his hands as I playfully grasped the hem of my blouse and executed a dramatic bow.
