**SLIGHT LANGUAGE AND SMOKING**
You sit on a bench at a park. Today wasn't so busy, nor was it ever really.
Your hair flows in a messy, half-assed braid. But messy never seemed to be a bad thing until people made it out to be. You have your earbuds in, listening to your favourite playlist.
Today's calm, you think to yourself. And you aren't wrong, are you?
The breeze isn't too strong, just enough to lightly move the leaves and blades of grass. The air smells of spring, if you could consider that a scent.
The music fills your ears and you scroll through your Instagram feed. You take a few pictures to post later. I mean, it's rare for a day to be so peaceful, you think.
And of course, by even thinking that, the atmosphere changes. Or should I say, the smell. Suddenly a polluting smell of cigarette smoke can be recognized in the air.
"Who's smoking?" You mutter to yourself in utter disbelief. Who'd be so shitty as to ruin such a perfect day!
You get up from the bench and try and follow the smell. It isn't as easy as it's made out to be. The smell drifts from one area to the next, as if it's a lost puppy looking for it's owner. An awful, nicotine puppy.
After what feels like 10 minutes of searching, you give up and find a nearby bench to rest on. The smell might be ruined, but the scenery isn't!
Eventually the smell fades away and you settle down again.
You hear a person's voice, but the music makes the words indistinguishable. You press pause on the song playing and look up.
"I'm sorry, did you say something?" You apologize, looking up at the stranger.
"Yeah, I asked if it was alright if I sit here?" it was a girl, looking ever so slightly younger than you.
You hesitate for a second, taken aback by how put together she looked compared to you.
"I mean, I'm not waiting for anyone so why not?" You answer.
A few minutes of silence go by before the dreaded smell returns, this time stronger.
Your eyes wander to the other side of the bench and you see the girl holding a cigarette between her lips. Despite the awfulness of it, she looks innocent and at peace.
Her eyes drift over and meet yours. You try and look away but for a second it seems impossible. Your eyes wander over to the grass and your face feels hot.
"Sorry, I should've asked if it was okay with you!" She apologizes sincerely.
"It's fine, trust me." You reply, your lips twisting into a light smile.
"You sure? I mean it's kind of an asshole move on my part." She asks.
"Yup." You reassure her.
Some time goes by and the smell goes away again. For some reason, you feel a bit of disappointment, thinking the girl left. You turn to see she's still there.
"Hey, do you have a boyfriend?" You ask awkwardly, mentally slapping yourself.
There's probably a billion other ways to get a girl's attention. There's probably a billion more ways to see if a girl is into girls. But you go with the weirdest, awkwardest one. Great going, (Y/N). You scold yourself.
She gives a light laugh but doesn't face you. "I'm actually into girls and I'm single."
You feel your hope replenish and decide to shoot your shot.
"Sorry, that was really random. I'm (Y/N), by the way." You introduce yourself.
She moves a part of her hair from her face and looks at you. "(C/N). And don't worry, I've heard weirder things."
"Could I possibly get your number?" You ask hopefully.
She pulls out a pen from her pocket and gently grabs your hand. She writes her number on the back of your hand and closes the pen.
"Y'know, I have my phone right here?" You ask playfully, holding your phone out.
"Yeah but... it's funner when it's dumber." She smiles at you.
"Well then, I'll make sure to ask you out with a letter." You smile back.~~~~~ EXTRA THINGY ~~~~~
She pulls out another cigarette, but you pull it out of her hand.
"You might wanna stop with these." You say holding it by your face.
"Wanna go get some coffee?" She asks, avoiding your comment.
You stand up and hold out your hand for her. She takes it and you start walking away.
"You forgot your bag, (Y/N)." She says, struggling to hold back a laugh.
"Yeah... I knew that." You turn back and grab your bag.
