It was the summer before our junior, Sadie thought it would be fun to throw a birthday pool party for me. She invited everyone she knew. She threw the pool party at my house since my parents were on a business trip.
"Come on we have to pick out a cute outfit for you and... also I have to pick up the liquor and your beautiful cake." Sadie said as she dragged me out so we could go shopping.
"I'll just wear something from my closet Sadie."- I replied as I tried to fight back.
"Um no we're going shopping and that's final."
"Fine whatever."
We hopped in her car and drove off to the mall. We spent at least 2 hours finding something I would actually wear. Sadie found her a cute outfit that screamed I'm popular and rich. My outfit was a mini skirt with a crop top that said babygirl. I wouldn't normally wear mini skirts but it was cute. I was going to pay for my outfit but Sadie payed for it all with her credit card. After we left the mall we went to the bad side of town and got the liquor from a guy who looked old enough to be my dad. Sadie grabs the liquor and hands him money he tells her to keep it and then he whispered in her ear. Whatever he said was obviously funny or maybe she was just being a flirt and making him think it was funny. She hops in the car and drives off.
"What was that about?" I asked.
"Huh? Oh that? That was nothing." She said.
"That didn't look like nothing. So what was that about?" I asked once more.
"He asked me to come over sometime."
"Really Sadie?! He's old enough to be your dad!" I yelled at her.
"Oh shut up you're acting like my mom. When you are suppose to me my best friend Madison!"
"Some best friends act like your mother because they don't want you to get hurt." I mumbled.
After we got out the bad side of town we went to her aunt's bakery. Sadie told me to close my eyes until she got back. I hear the trunk open and close then the driver side door opens as closes. I open my eyes and Sadie starts that car.
"So don't get mad at me but... they are people at your house decorating the back yard. I got you a dj, and balloons and a few presents." Sadie mentions right when we pull up to my house.
Cars went starting to pull up from left and right. The party didn't start until 9 why are people here when it's just now 8:15? I grabbed the liquor and our outfits and Sadie grabbed the cake she walked to the backyard and some guy grabbed the liquor.
"Happy birthday Madison." He said as he winked at me.
"Uh thanks. Just follow Sadie to the backyard."
I walk off to my room and put on my swimming suit then my outfit. I hear a knock on the door and it's Sadie.
"You look so pretty." Sadie said as she hugged me.
I hug her back and tell her thank you for everything she got me.
"Hold on. Turn towards the mirror." Sadie says as she opens a box and takes out a necklace that had a black pearl on it, the rest of the necklace was made with gold which probably costed her a lot of money, but she always knew how much I loved black pearls.

I grabbed my necklace and just held it. Alien boy finally comes back with our trays. He hands me mine and he sits his down.
"So I thought you were a vegetarian?" He said as he took a bite out of his burger.
"Nah I just lied because I didn't want to go anywhere with you."
"That hurts. Is it because I'm ugly?"
"Yeah totally." I said as I starting to laugh.
"Well that hurts because I thought you were cute."
I stopped laughing and just looked at him. Did he just say I was cute?
'Duh he said you were cute. You should hook up with him.'
'Sadie I'm not hooking up with a stranger! Now go away!'
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that." He said as he apologizes.
"No no it's fine. I'm just not use to guys calling me cute me."
"Oh. Well that's stupid because you are so beautiful."
I start to blush by him complementing me. He smiles and starts to eat again. I grabbed my sandwich and tortilla in half and ate one half. After we finish eating we begin to talk about normal thing you know? The everyone goes silent. They look up to listen to the intercom.
"Please check you flight status. It looks like the snowstorm is clearing up." The woman over the intercom said.
I get up and run to the flight status.
"Wait Fanta!" Alien boy yelled as he followed me.
I just kept running until I got to the flight status. Los Angles leaves at 6 pm. I checked my phone at it was only 2 pm. Alien boy looks at the flight status to
"Looks like my flight is leaving at 6." He's said as he patted my shoulder.
"So is mine mate." I replied back as I rolled my eyes.
I didn't care to ask where he was headed to because I didn't care.
"So what do want to do while time passes?"
"I don't know about you but I'm going to the bookstore. Bye." I said as I walked off.
"Why are you being like that?" Alien boy asked.
"Being like what?"
"One minute you are enjoying yourself and having fun but then you try to cut me off."
"Maybe I was just being nice? Maybe you just kept begging over and over just for me to go with you. I really didn't want to talk to you, I didn't expect to bump into you! Sorry if you don't like hearing the truth but that's just how it is!"
"You know what 'Fanta'  you are such a spoiled brat, that doesn't like people being nice to you. You were alone and look sad that's why I offer some company, my family taught me to be kind and caring. I don't like seeing people alone but if you like being alone and sad then go ahead enjoy being lonely. I'm done being nice to you when all you are is rude to me." Alien boy said as he walked away to the train stop.
I was shocked by what he said to me. He was just being nice? So him calling me cute was just being nice?
'Way to go Madison! You just pushed a cute boy away. For what though? For me? I'm dead! And pushing away people isn't going to bring me back to life.'
'I just don't want to be around anyone. I didn't do this for you.'
'Why do you want to go to the bookstore anyways? All that's there are books."
'That's the point Sadie. I want to see what books they have.'
As I enter the bookstore I was greeted by a woman with blonde hair and tan skin, she reminded me of Sadie. So nice and talkative. I look around the store for crime mystery books. Eventually I walk over to the woman.
"Hi, where would the crime mystery books be?"
"Here let me show you." She said with a warm smile.
We walk all the way to the back and there they were right in front of my face.
"Is there anything else you needed?" She asked.
"Um no this is it thank you."
"No problem it's my job." She said as she laughed.
Yup she was just like Sadie. I grabbed two books and walked to the checkout. The girls name was Emily.
"So I just wanted to say you are really pretty and also I wanted to ask about the nose piercing... did it hurt?" Emily said as she put my books in a bag.
"Aw thank you and so are you! And no not at all it was actually painless. I didn't feel a thing."
"Thanks. And I was thinking about getting one that's why I asked."
"Oh you would look good with a nose ring."
"Thanks. Hey I know this is up forwarded but my shift ends in an hour and I was wondering if you wanted to hangout since we are going be stuck in this airport all night."
"What do you mean all night? Flights just got rescheduled." I asked.
I feel the inner me about to freak out I just want to go home and visit Sadie's grave for her one year anniversary since she decided to leave with a man and then get murdered.
"I've been watching the news and no one is leaving tonight. I'm sorry." Emily said as she frowned.
"Welp just great just fucking great! I'm stuck in this fucking airport overnight."
"You know what we don't have to hangout. You seemed upset."
"No no we can hangout. Here's my number just call me when you get off." I said as I gave her my number.
I walk out with my books and start walking to the flight status. Just then my dad called.
"Hey honey. I heard that the storm is getting worse. Do I need to put more money on your card so you can get a hotel room?"
"Um sure. I don't want to sleep out here with all these losers."
"Alright bye Maddie."
*call ended*
I didn't even know this airport had hotel rooms. Well this is a big ass airport so I should've known. I walk up to the lady at the front desk and ask her where the hotel rooms were. She told me where they when and I payed her for a one night stay which was $280, she gave me the key and walked to my hotel room. I got a room that was kinda of on the top floor. The higher I am the less people are gonna be there. No one in their right mind would pay $280 for a one night stay in a crappy hotel room. As I got to the top floor I bump into a pilot. Ohh so this is they floor for mainly flight attendants and pilots.
"I'm so sorry miss." He said as he picked up my back.
"Oh no that's my fault I'm sorry."
"You packed light huh? One one back and one suitcase?"
"Yeah I stayed in New York for one two weeks."
"Oh I hope you enjoyed you stay here. Anyways I'm gonna go eat so stay safe ma'am."
"You too." I said as I unlock my room.
You know what the hotel room wasn't that bad. There was one bed, a mini refrigerator, and it was stocked up with food and drinks and there was a half bathroom, and a smart tv. Okay I can deal with this. I put my bag and my suitcase down and grabbed one of my books and started reading.
