"Bye Ems!"

"Bye Kylie" I shouted back at her. School ended and I was curious about what Dannon  was gonna tell me tonight.

I plugged my ear buds into my phone and hummed to the music as I walked back home. I walked because Robert had football practice and he couldn't drive me home and i left my car at home since Robert gave me a ride this morning.

After a few songs my favourite song came up. It wasn't just my favourite song, but also my favourite movie that the song plays in. The song's name was When the darkness comes.

I sang the lyrics.

Underneath the echos
Buried in the shadows

Now the door is op-

I stopped singing when a car drove by me honking with a group of guys from my school. I pulled out my ear buds.

"Nice voice Emily!" A guy known as Jack shouted at me. I blushed and kept on walking. And since when does he know me. I've never talked to him before. Maybe he's just being nice.

"Need a ride?" Jack asked politely.

"No thanks. I'm good" I said. With one last wave the boys drove off down the street.

I put my ear buds back in my ear and made sure not to sing. Just in case somebody else wants to throw a comment at my singing.

"Mom I'm home!" I shouted as I came into the house.

"I'm in the kitchen!" She shouted back and I went to the kitchen only to find my mom and dad with bags I  their hands. It wasn't little bags. It looked like they were going on vacation or something.

"What's going on?" I asked slowly.

My mom sighted. "Did you forget honey?" She asked me. What was I forgetting?

She went on. "We're going to visit your grandparents remember?" I looked at her confused.  She didn't say anything about visiting grandma and grandpa.

"You never said anything about that" I said confused. My dad rolled his eyes.

"Remember when you had your ear buds in when you sat on the couch? Your mother told you that we were going to visit them and you just nodded?"

"I was listening to music! I didn't think it was important!"

"Well maybe you should listen more." My mom said.

I groaned. "So who is going to look after us? How long will you guys be away?"

"We've decided that you both are responsible enough to look after yourselves and only a few weeks" my mom said.

"Wait.... so your gonna leave me and Robert alone in this house? What's the catch?"

"There is no catch. We trust you. And you both know how to make microwave dishes so you'll be fine" my mom said.
