Kaylee's POV

I brushed my eyes softly, sat up, and looked at my side clock just to be informed that it's already 4:34 PM. After arriving from the airport last night, we talked for a few more hours. Then my aunt suggested that we should take some rest because she knew pretty well that we're tired.

'I slept for 14 hours' I realized as I went to the glass sliding door, tying the long curtain to the side. I opened it and stepped out to the veranda, closing my eyes as I felt the warm welcome of the afternoon breeze. I watched the view of some children running. They have those pure and innocent smiles in their faces as they continue to enjoy each other's company. They're joyfully shouting "Park" and that's the only thing I can understand since I don't know how to speak nor understand Japanese yet.

"Sleeping beauty is finally awake!!!" Kate announced, opening my door widely.

"Kate knocking is good, you should probably try it" I turned around and gave my sister a bored look.

"Afternoon snacks are prepared downstairs just go when you're done spacing out in your veranda" she said, completely ignoring my recommendation.

I took a deep sigh while shaking my head lightly. My head's a bit dizzy, probably from the long sleep I just had. After conditioning myself, I decided to finally head downstairs to get something to eat. I'm starving!

When I reached the dining area auntie and Kate were already eating. "Oh, you're finally awake! Come sit with us you're probably hungry"

I smiled and joined them. I saw some unfamiliar pastries at the center of the dinning table, making me have that unsure look on my face. My auntie laughed at my expression when I decided to pick up a round bread and sincerely inspected it.

"It's melon pan. You should try it, I know you'll love it" my aunt suggested but I'm still doubting the outside texture of the bread. I took a bite and a shock replaced my curiosity when the taste successfully sank in.

"What is this?!" I took another bite and was once again delighted at the taste.

"I knew it! You loved the combination of cookie and bread, right?" Kate laughed at my sudden burst while she's holding a horn like bread with chocolate inside.

"I didn't know there's such a treat like this. Oh I'm already starting to love Japan auntie" my aunt seemed impressed with my statement but chose to just continue eating.

The conversations continued along with the laughter. I never felt so safe and free, I am really grateful for the second chance given to me to start a new life. As soon as we're all done eating, I volunteered to clean the dishes since I haven't done any progress yet due to my over sleeping.

After washing the dishes I went straight to my room and played some songs while deciding on what book should I re-read. As long as I found what my heart desired, I hurriedly cleaned my glasses' lenses and sat down on the chair near my study table. I've been reading for a while now before I decided to give my eyes a little rest by taking a glimpse at the wall clock. 'It's already 8 PM?' I went out of my room to ask my aunt if I could stroll the place.

As expected she said "Sure! Don't go too far though, you don't know the place yet" with a smile. I admire that about her a lot, her being all smiley and positive but matured. It's giving me an idea on how to think and act with everything that destiny will offer me. It inspired me to think that from now on, I should never be scared to give things a try. I went back to my room and changed into a loose sweatshirt and jogging pants. I also tied up my hair, put my favorite cap on and changed my glasses into contact lenses. I took one last look at the mirror before going downstairs.
