Kaylee's POV
"H-Hey.. Do you have a minute? I would like to..." I stopped writing and looked up to meet Saya's gaze. Just like the previous ones that she asked me that the same question, her nervousness is visible and her eyes are fully fixated on me; watching my every move, reading me. I gave her a small warm smile, putting down the pencil that I'm holding.
"Go on, I'll listen" I patiently waited while she painfully took her time. I am not one who likes suspense like this specially if it has something to be talked about. She's been saying the same sentences for the past week, not missing a single day; "Do you have a minute?" "I have something to tell you", but would always drop it when she started saying "I'm the-" or "I'm that-" and as much as I wanted to ask her eagerly I just can't. I can't afford to hear anything about me asking her to spill whatever it is while she never forced me to say something about my damn past. She would ask sometimes, yes, but after she saw my expressions and un-comfortability, she would drop the question right away.
"Nothing.. Never mind it's not that important after all" I was snapped back to my current situation, hearing her sigh defeatedly.
I held her hand out before I can even stop my instincts. For the past few days that she's been like this, worry is growing more in me and right now I'm in a state where my mind can't stop what my heart desires to do.
I felt a slight heat on my cheeks as I looked at her, not breaking the eye contact. "Hey.." I ran my thumb lightly on the back of her hand when she looked away. "You can tell me anything anytime you want to, okay?" I finished off with a smile, reassuring her that no matter what it is about, I won't judge her.
She nodded her head as she gave back one of those iconic smile she usually wears when she's carefree and happy. I let myself feast at the beautiful sight. Her smiling face, her wavy forelocks, her smooth skin, her bright hair, her ocean eyes; that I felt like drowning every time I get lost in it.
"You're just so beautiful..." I whispered, half hoping that I won't be heard and half that she did.
"Hmm? What's that?"
"Ah.. nothing" I replied with a small shy smile.
"It's been 5 minutes" Tae casually announced as me and Saya looked at her questionably.
"What's been-" Saaya asked but Tae cut her.
"Since you two had been holding each other's hands" She said while eyeing her watch; Kasumi's eyes are squinting while looking at our linked hands with a teasing grin. In an instant we both retrieved our hands off of each other, looking down, focusing, on our text books in front of us.
'I completely forgot that we're in the middle of a study session' I sighed quietly and continued my work.
We decided to call it a day after making sure that our home works are all done. As usual they asked me to join them in their last practice before tomorrow's big performance but I gently declined, again. Instead, I walked with them on my way home to simply make up for turning down their invitation. I waved good bye as they continued on their paths.
"I'm home!" I entered, and to my surprise we had a visitor.
"H-Hi!" a blue haired girl greeted me. I can recognize her; 'hmm where did I see her before?'
"Onee-chan!" Kate said. She has a tray in her hand with snacks. "Snacks?" she continued.
"I'm fine. I just came from Saya's house" she placed the tray at the table in our living room and looked at me with a different kind of smile on her face.
"Hmmm? Saaya-chan's house again?" ugh here we go with again.
"Kasumi and Tae were there too y'know. Study sessions." she still has that grin in her face but nodded as if she believes but I know she really don't.
