"Argh!"

You let out a frustrated sigh and stared somberly at the words (or lack thereof) on the computer screen in front of you. The text seemed to taunt you, reminding you that you had once again encountered a plot hole. You slumped back in your chair and took a gulp of coffee from your desk.

'maybe I should just have a break...'

Deciding that you had had enough of trying to write, you stood up, stretching your arms to release the tension that had built up. Your bones made a pleasant cracking sound and you sighed in relief, grabbing your coffee cup and turning towards the door to go to the teacher's lounge. The book could wait.

As you turned, you practically bumped noses with somebody, almost spilling your coffee everywhere. Thankfully you merely fumbled with it before regaining control, muttering out a soft apology. Looking up you recognized the cheerful face of Jenna Lewis, the English teacher you were assigned to assist. Taking a step back, you began to apologise again. She gently cut you off.

"It's fine, honestly! I was just coming to ask if you could mark these tests for me? I already have three more classes to get done this week and it would be a big help..."

She nodded down at the large stack of tests in her arms. An internal sigh erupted as you thought about marking them, but instead, you smiled a small smile and agreed.

"Okay, let me put them in my bag real quick, I'll have them done by tomorrow." She grinned thankfully, her blue eyes gleaming with gratitude. Her hands were soft and well-manicured as she handed over the heavy stack, and you contemplated how someone as young and pretty as her could already be such an experienced teacher as you struggled to fit them into your (f/c) bag.

For a relatively new and attractive teacher teaching at a high school, you had to admire how outspoken and efficient Jenna was. She was gorgeous, with long honey-coloured hair and warm blue eyes, which you could only imagine brought her more attention from the hormonal teenagers she taught. However, this was brushed off as her main goal was simply, to teach. And she was good at it.

As an introvert, you envied her ability to capture a room with her passion. You were hoping that she could teach you a few things because when Jenna had something to say, people listened. Sure you had plenty of energy, but charisma wasn't your strong point. You preferred to have quiet conversations as opposed to lecturing big groups, but the thought of teaching had always been appealing. Since you met your English professor when studying for your degree he had really opened your mind up to the possibility with his kind and encouraging words.

After leaving Cambridge University with your English degree your family wanted you to move back to (city name) and teach there, but you had fallen in love with the picturesque city and didn't want to leave. Hence your rash decision to stay and get a job at a local high school as a teacher's assistant. They agreed to give you two months of teaching experience helping one of the English teachers (Jenna) before seeing how you taught independently. You, of course, were ecstatic, finally feeling like you were growing from the shy young woman from before.

Currently, Jenna was waiting for you by the door as you finally slotted the tests into the heavy bag and stood up. She gave you a grin and let you pass first, before following you towards the teacher's lounge, chatting amicably about her day.

"So I told her, seriously you need to get yourself together honey, it's been three months since he dumped you and you're still a wreck!"

You nodded absentmindedly, humming to signify that she had your attention as you contemplated the newest plothole in your story. It just didn't make sense and you felt frustration scratch away at your insides. Jenna continued to babble away about some plans.
