TWO THOUSAND YEARS AGO
>ANCIENT GREECE<"I REFUSE."
SILAS stormed out of his home in the village after engaging in a heated dispute. As both frustration and resentment flowed through his veins, the witch made his way toward the forest. The one place, in which, he had never ceased to find tranquility.
Silas, lost in his thoughts, was angered due to one thing, and one thing only. The news of a betrothal was revealed to him just moments prior to his departure, by his father. He was to marry a woman named Alexandria from his village. Now surely, any man would be pleased with the news of a wife-to-be, however, Silas was not fond of the woman to which he was betrothed, and he most certainly did not love her. Alexandria was a witch who vied for him, despite being turned down. Being as Silas was the bachelor fawned over by many, in both his village and those that neighbored, still she sought to eliminate any 'competition'. So at hearing the news that she would be his bride, he disagreed entirely. Silas knew that if he were to follow through with the marriage, he'd never gain the opportunity to find his true love, and so would live a life of regret. However despite his protests, no one else felt the same.
As the witch finally set foot into the forest, his eyes drank in the images of life before him. Various colored flowers that had fully blossomed were scattered about, to the point that there was nowhere he could turn without catching a glimpse of color from the flora.
Closing his eyes, Silas exhaled deeply as he continued on. On the outside, he looked to be a god keenly striding amongst the wonders of mother nature. But on the inside, his mind conjured up each of the thoughts he had merely attempted to forget. Was he really in the wrong to refuse to marry someone he did not love? The girl called Alexandria was certainly not a stranger, but he didn't love her and felt it was unfair to himself. His father seemed to think otherwise, saying that they would grow to love each other in time, but Silas knew he could never love her.
Breaking away from the thoughts of his racing mind, he stopped to admire the newly-bloomed daffodils, and watched as a butterfly landed atop one. Suddenly, it spread its wings and fluttered around him, causing a small smile to tug at the corner of his lips. For a moment, he just studied the creature, admiring its beauty. Almost as though it were the lamp to which a moth was drawn.
After a few moments he had lost sight of it, only to notice it had flown farther ahead. A strange urge over him, telling him to follow, and so that is exactly what he did. He continued forward but had lost the monarch completely. He stopped and peered all around, soon finding that he had stumbled upon a vast field of roses. However, the flowers were not what caught his eye, it was her.
The girl had pale skin, yet her cheeks were delicately painted with a tint of soft rose. Atop her brunette hair rested a crown of woven daisies. Her icy blue eyes silently studied the roses, admiring their beauty. The soft smile on her lips never left her face, as she was filled with tranquility. Studying the girl from afar, Silas felt the cooling rush of the breeze graze across his cheek. That same breeze causing a few brunette tendrils to fly across the girl's face. He watched as she ever-so-softly pushed them back behind her ear.
In Silas' eyes, absolutely nothing in the world could be compared to her beauty. And just seeing her, he himself had forgotten the reason he had left home. Breathtakingly captivated by her beauty, the witch took a few steps toward the small white gazebo in the field's centre. At first, he had hesitated, but an overwhelming surge of new-found persistence pushed him.
Hearing the crunching of the grass beneath his steps, Rozalia turned to look at him, their eyes meeting one-another's for the very first time. Taking the sight of him in, she studied his features up close. With his chiseled jaw, his almost perfectly sculpted mouth, and those piercing green eyes of his, one could easily mistake him for a god. Heck, she herself couldn't tell the difference.
"A beautiful day, isn't it?" After a moment of silence he asked the girl, not wanting to make things awkward. "Indeed, it is," She smiled softly.
Looking away, the girl smiled. "I'm Rozalia."
"Silas... A true pleasure to meet you." He reached for her hand, his lips meeting it with a soft kiss.
