Chapter 10

"Forget that conversation earlier. Let's put it past us for now so that we can get this routine done and over with."

"Fine."

We performed our routine for the director and camera crew, all eyes watching us like hawks (reference Seulgi + Taeyong performance video above, they used that choreography). We finished, panting heavily by the end. My mind was so blank and serene as we stood in our ending pose, his arm over my shoulders, my hand draped over his forearm. Our foreheads almost connected and supposedly looking into one another eyes, which we were avoiding like hell.

"Cut!"

The director walked up to us, hopefully he's satisfied.

"Hey, so I'm really satisfied with the routine that you came up with, you both matched the lighting and mood very well, it was just the right vibe and level of sexiness I wanted," I breathed a sigh of relief, perhaps too early.

"But I couldn't get enough feeling from either of you." I glanced over at Xukun who seemed to be stone cold.

I nodded, "We understand, Sir. We will be more passionate. Was there a particular feel you wanted us to go for?" I questioned.

"Hmm, this perfume is supposed to convey a passionate lust, almost aggressive in a sultry 'come get me' kind of way." I shuddered at the thought of that concept, but nodded enthusiastically.

We ran through again and I noticed that Xukun was more touchy, more flirty with his touches which I responded to by doing the same thing. When we came to our ending pose, Xukun pulled me closer, our heavy breaths mingling together. We looked into one another's eyes, fire obvious in the depths. A little smirk rose to his lips, testing my patience, and I bit my lips in return, leaning my head back to almost look like I was looking down on him. His look annoyed me to hell and back, but I hope we both looked angry enough for the director.

"Cut! That was perfect!" We quickly stepped away from one another and we were immediately changed to different outfits for our photoshoot. At least we were able to get past the dance routine...

"Hello, trainees!" I said into the microphone, all of the girls were in front of me, Xukun standing beside me.

"Hello, Mentors!" The girls screamed back.

"We will be doing a talking segment where Xukun and I will just be talking to all of you and answer some concerns you may have! This will be very raw and sentimental, so please throw anything our way!" I cheered alongside Xukun into the camera. The girls cheered and we got right to it.

We went through the segment very smoothly, it was really touching to hear all of their confessions and concerns. It made me reflect on my troubles when I was still in my baby idol days. Even though I was all of these girls' age, I was still technically a senior in the industry, and that didn't sit right with me when they were all so incredibly talented.

"I want to address this with mentor Lihua."

I nodded, motioning for her to continue.

"I wanted to ask you, what is your position on body image and the industry's standards? Have you faced problems with your image?"

I sighed, this was an awesome question with an awful answer, "Personally, I'd love to spread body positivity through my work, I believe that all forms of life should accept their body in the form that they are. So-called imperfections are only society placing doubts and shame on people who they want to put down. I'd love to say that the industry is accepting in all forms, but it isn't, and it saddens me. I look at myself everyday, placing doubt on myself and what I look like because our profession is so superficial, so it's difficult. I hope that we move in a direction that we can have a shapes and forms in the industry, though, so it's up to you girls how you want to present yourself, but always know that even if people cast doubt on you, people out there love you for who you are, not for your body, but for your artistry and your mind. And if people do not see that then you don't need them in your life, no matter who they are." I nodded when I was done and I saw a few tears spilled in the crowd. The industry was so cruel to those who don't conform and it was so evident just from seeing the tears trickle down the faces of these tired girls.

"T-Thank you, mentor Lihua." The girl stuttered, obviously deeply affected by what I said. I got up and went to hug her and everyone clapped. I really hope that they editors don't cut out this part in favor of evil editing.

We went on for awhile longer, and we were nearing the end of the segment.

"Before we end, what's going on between you two!? We all saw that ad you did together!" A girl chirped and I started sweating profusely. I peered over at Xukun who had his cards placed over his face in embarrassment. Why did they have to mention it...

"Nothing! We just had the ad together for this show!" I laughed, but the girl whooped and hollered regardless. I laughed at their silliness.

We finally reached the end of filming and we mentors were dismissed.

I was looking down at my phone, when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and my eyes went wide.

"Can we meet on the rooftop at 8?" Xukun questioned quietly.

I sighed and looked down at my heels.

"Sure."

Hopefully he's not planning on throwing me off the building...
