Chapter 16

"Lihua!" The director yelled out my name, today was the day of our final elimination and we were all getting dressed.

"Yes, Sir?"

"Be out in ten. We will be starting introductions soon!"

I nodded and the director rushed off somewhere else.

"Hello and welcome to the final elimination round of Youth With You! We have two fantastic stages to show you today with our contesting final ladies for the position to be in the debuting group!" I chirped.

"And today, we will be having three special mentors for today's episode. First of all, please welcome the PD himself, PD Zhang Yixing!" Xukun shouted and the crowd went wild for the attractive man. We smiled at one another as he passed by me to take his place on stage.

"Next we have Wang Jackson, member of Got7 and a solo artist!" As Jackson passed us, he gave me a little hair ruffle, which I silently protested.

"A-And lastly, we have previous mentor from Idol Producer, Kyulkyung!" She walked out, looking extremely gorgeous. As she passed by us, she gave us each a bow, but it was what happened next that left my jaw unhinged.

She went up to Kun specifically, wrapping her arms around him like an old friend, leaving us all shocked for a moment. She strutted over to her place by Jackson and Yixing.

I saw Xukun shoot me a nervous look and I wanted to roll my eyes till only the whites of them could be seen.

"She's your problem." I grumbled to myself.

"And now, let's hear a few words from each of the mentors for the girls performing today!" I cheered and the camera panned over to the guest mentors.

"Lihua, it's not what you think." I heard a little remark as the cameras were distracted.

I gave him a sugary smile as we were still in public, I whispered back, "Why should I care, Xukun? There's nothing between you and I, so I have nothing to do with it." Xukun looked taken aback as I let those words out cooly.

"Lihua-"

"Not now, Xukun." I almost barked, but kept my composure.

Stay professional unlike Ms. Red Lips over there. I scoffed as the girl with fiery red lips was finishing her little speech.

"Ladies, I am so proud of all of you! I know I'm among your age, so I don't want to talk down on you all like I am superior, but it's been amazing watching the bond between all of you grow and your skills steadily improving each day. Thank you so much for allowing me to be on this journey with you all!" I bowed, the final line up was revealed, which means that a lot of the girls would be going home today.

A lot of cheers, cries, and whoops filled the room. My heart sang and felt sorrow all at the same time.

"I agree with everything mentor Lihua said. It was in the exact same spot that you all were in two years ago, with a lot of other guys who faced the same challenges that I did. Even if you did not make the final line up, I want you all to know that each and every one of you has potential for greatness, so I hope to see each and every one of you on my television screen one day. If you choose to go another path, I wish you the very best with whatever you do. Please know that you can contact me if you ever need guidance or advice." Xukun bowed, everyone was basically crying now.

"Thank you youth mentors Lihua and mentor Xukun!" They all cheered and my heart felt so warm in this moment.

We only had a few more days of filming, to finalize everything with the debuting group of girls as a youth representative.

Xukun and I barely spoke ever since I saw him face to face with Kyulkyung. I think it's best if I just get through these last few days and just let it all go, leaving all theatrics behind once I left the filming site.

"Lihua." I sighed, recognizing that voice immediately.

"What is it, Xukun?"

I pretended like I was looking through some script papers.

"Can I speak with you?"

"Well, last time you wanted to talk to me you were interrupted by your girlfriend." I said pettily, but I had to say it.

His eyebrow quirked, "Kyulkyung?"

I scoffed, "Yeah, the girl you were making out with. Your previous girlfriend."

"Lihua... we aren't dating. What happened that night-"

"Do I want to know, Xukun? Because every time you tell me something isn't like it is, we end up right back to being awkward with another misunderstanding. So please Xukun, please stop hurting me."

It wasn't fair of me to say, he wasn't the one asking me to love him yet I said those words to him. It's better to just cut off ties, leaving him to remember the worst side of me.

Xukun went silent and he left without another word.

I just want to make it very obvious that I do not feel like Kyulkyung would ever act like this! I am purely using her as an antagonizing character for the sake of the plot!!
