When the squad got back to the station everyone was a bit tired. There were two more days of their shift before a new group took over for the remaining 4 leaving not a lot of room for rest. Everyone cleaned up and showered, before getting ready for bed and stumbling into the large bedroom. It didn't take long for everyone to fall asleep, after the exhaustion from the last few hours.
The next 2 days went by slowly and there weren't any calls. Most fire stations only got actual calls every two weeks or so, meaning there wasn't a lot of constant action. When their shift was over, Lexa headed to a hotel, still not having a place to stay while she searched for an apartment. Lexa used to love days out of the fire house but now she despised them. When she was at the fire station, she was surrounded by other people and distractions, but now she was left alone with her own thoughts, something she hated. With the anniversary of Costia's death coming up next week, Lexa couldn't bear to stay alone in the hotel room all day, so she decided to go out. Lexa never drank on duty, however a whiskey while she was off duty never hurt anyone, and Lexa needed the numbness of the alcohol.
California was still new to Lexa, but there was a place across the street from her hotel called Dark Valley Lounge, so she decided to go out and try it. Lexa went alone and took a seat at the bar, ordering a glass of whiskey and attempting to drink her sorrows away. Unfortunately for Lexa, she had quite and high alcohol tolerance, which meant she would have to spend quite a lot to start to feel numb, but she needed a way to get rid of her pain and she was willing to pay for it. If she was still thinking about how the love of her life was dead, then she was all too sober, so Lexa continued to order drink after drink. Eventually the bartender cut her off, which made Lexa angry although even in her drunken state she somewhat understood his rational. The bartender asked if she needed him to call a car but Lexa just explained she would be walking back to the hotel. When Lexa stood up though, she started stumbling around the room, the alcohol clearly having an effect on her balance, but she continued to walk anyways, too stubborn to ask for help.
When Lexa walked outside of the bar, she was surprised to find the the streets were somewhat crowded even late at this time a night. Lexa decided to cross the street and walk to her hotel but she was not paying attention when a speeding car ran a red light coming right at her. Lexa was too drunk to do anything to prevent the car from hitting her, but she was at least able to jump up slightly so she hit the hood of the car, sending her flying 10 feet forward, and landing with a hard crash. It's a good thing Lexa was super drunk or that car hitting her would have felt a whole lot worse.
Lexa could hear what sounded like muffled screaming all around her, and was barely still Conscience when she saw a familiar face hovering above her. It was Clarke. Lexa wondered what Clarke was doing here but her barely Conscience brain didn't really have time to think too much. The next thing she knew, Lexa felt a sharp pain, as she was lifted in the air by Clarke. Clarke has picked her up bridal style and was now sprinting to the hospital that was located only 2 blocks from the hotel. Sometime during the trip to the hospital, Lexa fell fully unconscious again, allowing the darkness to consume her.

Lexa woke up, not aware where she was. She opened her eyes and felt a sharp pain in her head like nothing she had ever felt before.
"Lexa?" A voice called out to her, and Lexa noticed it was Clarke.
"Clarke? Where am I?"
"You are at the hospital Lexa." Clarke explained, walking over closer to where Lexa was.
"What? How did this happen? I don't remember anything."
"You were walking out of a bar and got hit by a guy who was running a red light."
Lexa felt her stomach drop. She was hit by a car. This couldn't be good.
"What happened Clarke?"
"Actually not much. You were really lucky. Apparently you jumped right on time and landed so perfectly on the hood, you avoided certain death. You are definitely going to have some cuts that will eventually be scars, and you have a concussion right now but besides that you made it out pretty ok.
Lexa took a second to think about everything Clarke had just said. She was so lucky to not have died or even broken a bone, and Lexa would never forget what happened. "Wait how did you get here?"
"I saw you getting hit by the car from across the street and ran over to you. The hospital was only two blocks away, so I just carried you there myself." Clarke explained casually, like it was no big deal. Lexa's eyes widened as she heard Clarke tell her everything, and she couldn't believe it.
"You saved me?"
"No the doctors saved you, I just brought you here." Clarke said, showing a small smile.
"Still got jokes huh princess?" Lexa teased, smiling back at the blonde.
"You know I never really liked that name." Clarke said, still smiling at Lexa.
"Ok then I will have to think of a new one." Lexa said, a determined look on her face.
"What happened to Ms. I hate friends?" Clarke asked, and Lexa felt a pang of guilt.
"Life's too short. I know that now." Lexa explained shrugging her shoulders. "I'd be sorry if I never became friends with you Clarke."
This made Clarke's heart melt a little and she couldn't stand it anymore, so she took a step forward and brought Lexa into a tight hug. Both girls expected the other to eventually pull away, but neither of them did, both enjoying holding the other one so much. Then they heard Bellamy clear his throat and they pulled away quickly and saw the entire squad standing at the door.
"How much of that did you guys see?" Clarke asked, stepping back from Lexa's hospital bed.
"Enough to know that Lexa is secretly a giant softy." Octavia smiled, walking over to Lexa and handing her a get well soon card signed by the entire station.
"I hope you don't mind but I called the squad." Clarke said, looking at the large group gathered in the room.
"Thank you Clarke, and thank you all for coming. It means a lot."
And with that, the entire group stayed and hung out for several hours, talking all night about just about everything. Lexa was happy, not only to be alive but to be making friends with her co-workers even under unfortunate circumstances. It was sad that it took a near death incident for Lexa to realize she needed friends, but she was happy she had Clarke to show her that. Maybe being chief at station 100 wouldn't be so bad after all. These are really good people.
