Clarke and Lexa walked back stage to find all the kids and their families.

"Charlotte has been taken to the hospital." Clarke informed the producer, and he nodded and dismissed the families.

"Hey Aden." Lexa greeted the kid, who was awkwardly standing by his mom holding a trophy.

"Lexa!" Aden smiled, pulling her into a hug. "Is Charolette ok?"

"I think she is Aden, she's in good hands now." Lexa said, smiling back at the young boy.

"Congratulations on the big win buddy!" Clarke smiled, sticking out her hand for a high five which Aden gave her.

"Thanks Clarke. I can't believe I won."

"I can. You are the best little bee out here." Lexa added, and Aden's mom patted him on the shoulder.

"Mom?" Aden asked turning around.

"What is it Aden?"

"Can we go visit Charlotte in the hospital?"

Aden's mom frowned and she looked sad. "I'm sorry buddy but I have to go meet with the spelling Bee people to sort out the prize money you won."

"We can take him." Clarke suggested, shrugging her shoulders.

"Yeah we don't have anything else to do." Lexa added.

"Really?!" Aden asked excitedly.

"Of course. If it's ok with your mom though.

Aden's mom smiled and nodded her head. "Thank you guys. I'll meet up with you later."

"Bye mom, I love you." Aden said, pulling his mom into a hug and then grabbing one of Clarke's hands and one of Lexa's hands and then leading the two forward.

"Hello guys, what can I get you today?"

"Do you have any get well soon balloons?" Aden asked the man behind the counter.

"Of course, I'll be right back."

A minute later the man came back with a blue balloon that says "get well soon"

"Is this good Aden?" Lexa asked and the boy nodded his head excitedly. "Ok then we will take this one." Lexa smiled, handing the man behind the counter some money.

The two walked out of the small store to where Clarke was standing waiting for them.

"The lady at the desk said she's in room 230 and she's ready for visitors." Clarke explained, ready to go visit Charlotte.

"Ok let's go." Aden said, grabbing one of Clarke's hands and one of Lexa's hands and pulling them forward. Eventually the 3 got to room 230 and the door was open so they walked in.

"Charlotte?"

"Aden?" The girl sat up in bed. "What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to make sure you are ok. I brought you a balloon." Aden explained, handing the girl the blue balloon.

"Thank you Aden." Charlotte said smiling.

"Are you two the ones in the video online?" Charlotte asked, turning her attention to Clarke and Lexa.

"Yes I'm Clarke and this is Lexa." Clarke confirmed awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck.

"Thank you for helping me."

"It's no problem." Lexa smiled. "It's our job."

"What do you mean?"

"They are fire fighters!" Aden said proudly, which made Lexa and Clarke both smile uncontrollably.

"Woah...that's so cool!" Charlotte said eyes wide.

"Thank you Charlotte. Maybe you can come visit the station back in California." Clarke offered.

"I would love that."

"Charlotte?" A voice from the hall called. Lexa and Clarke turned around to see Charlottes dad walk through the door.

"Hey dad, Aden, Clarke and Lexa came to visit."

"Oh that so nice of you guys." He said smiling but Lexa noticed it seemed a little forced. "Hey Lexa, Clarke can I speak with you two privately?"

"Of course." Lexa nodded, and the three walked out of the room leaving Aden and Charlotte to talk.

"Is everything ok?" Clarke asked, brows furrowed in confusion.

"No. After Charlotte was taken care of I left her for a few minutes to go grab some food for her and downstairs I saw an ambulance pull in with Aden's mom. I asked if she was ok and I was told they took her into emergency surgery. Apparently there was some kind of car crash or something on her way over."

Lexa's mind was racing and she didn't know what to feel. Aden told her that his mom was all the family he had.

"I'll make some calls and let the squad know we will be in DC longer then planned." Clarke said, pulling Lexa from her thoughts. Lexa nodded her head and turned to face charlottes dad again.

"I have to tell Aden." Lexa said frowning.

"We can all do it together." Clarke added, placing a hand on Lexa's shoulder.

"Ok." Charlotte's dad agreed and they all walked back into Charlottes room again where they saw Aden and Charlotte laughing together.

"Hey Aden, we have some bad news to tell you." Lexa started, bending down next to Aden.

"What do you mean?" Aden asked, his voice cracking slightly.

"Your mom got in a car accident Aden. She's in surgery right now." Lexa said, struggling to deliver the terrible news.

Clarke had now bent down next to Lexa and Charlottes dad moved to stand next to Charlotte in her bed.

"Are you ok Aden." Clarke asked nervously.

"I don't know. I mean no. I'm..."

"I'm so sorry." Lexa said, pulling him into a hug. The second Aden was in her arms he broke down crying.

"Clarke?" He asked.

"I'm right here buddy." Clarke said quickly joining the hug.

"It's gonna be ok Aden." Lexa tried to reassure him but she didn't know if that was true. Lexa and Clarke both lost parents at a young age and the truth is they both knew that if Aden's mom didn't pull through the outcome wouldn't be good.

"I'm going to go talk to her doctor Aden I'll be right back." Lexa said, pulling away from the hug.

"Can you stay Clarke?" Aden asked, and Clarke nodded her head. "Of course."

Lexa nodded towards Charlottes dad then walked out of the room heading towards the help desk.
