Chapter 8: Rank

Charlotte's POV

"Let me go Luke." I said one more time while staring at his clear green eyes. "Charlotte please.. I feel guilty that you had to get hit by an arrow because of me." he pleaded. "You feel guilty because of the physical pain you caused me? Paano nah yong emotional pain ko? You didn't care even just 1%!!" I angrily shouted at him while hot liquids started to escape from my eyes.

"I---" "Everytime I see that face of yours, I feel like dying all over again. All the pain and misery you brought upon me comes rushing back. And I don't want to feel that way. I've been through enough already.. so just stop and stay far away from me. Kahit space at oras lang Luke, ibigay mo naman sa akin." I nearly begged.

Kaya binitawan nah niya ako and left without uttering a word. So I wiped my tears and gathered all the energy I had and proceeded to the cafeteria. "Charlotte over here!!" tawag sa akin ni Christine. Kaya lumapit nah ako dala dala ang aking nabiling pagkain.

"Okay ka na bah?!!" sabay nilang tanong sa akin. "Yes, i'm fine." I lied and gave them the biggest smile. Sometimes it's better to lie rathen than explain why you aren't. "You look like a zombie. Did you cry?!" Lian asked me. Nabigla ako sa tanong niya ngunit nakasagot naman ako. "I'm fine really.. I just had to train nonstop after I gained consciousness."

"Ohmygosh.. that's terrible. I mean all Lian and I did was train in defense class along with the other Rank C students." paliwanag naman ni Christine. "You guys are on Class C?" I asked, startled. I mean how is that possible? How come they're on Rank C while i'm on Rank L? "Yes, and we couldn't be any prouder that you're on rank L. I just heard this from our roomate, that those who are ranked on L,LL, and LLL are really respected and feared. I mean you ranking as an L would be to our advantage right?" Lian informed me.

"I guess so?" I confusedly answered. I just have the feeling that being on rank L well do more damage than good. "Well enough chitchat, we have less than an hour to eat before training starts." sabi naman ni Christine. So we ate our lunch and went back to our respective training rooms. Which got me a little confused. Why is it that no other students we're training with me and Rye.

As I was about to enter in the training room when I spotted Sekhmet. "Sekhmet!!" I called her. "Yes? Do you need anything?" she asked. "May I ask why i'm in rank L? And why no one else is training aside from me and Rye?" "Rye didn't explain it to you?" Nagkabit balikat lang ako bilang sagot.

"Uhmm.. Well you're in rank L because a lot of people not only students, were impressed by you during the venatio. They were confused why you helped the students you injured and took an arrow for Luke. But when they learned you're a Henderson, they understood. It must run in the blood hehe. And you're using the rank LLL training room so obviously.. the only students you would encouter are the Ross twins.. well faternal twins, so it's either Rye or Lincoln." she explained slowly and clearly. And I was really shocked when I heard Rye and Lincoln are faternal twins...

"So is it really true what my parents said? They really didn't kill anyone?" "Well that's what you're family is know for... so i guess it's true." "Thanks Sekhmet." I said, but before she could leave I asked once more. "By the way Sekhmet, how many rank L are there?"

"Seven. Most rank L, LL, LLL are students here since high school. But ofcourse, they are earned and each year there gets to be one new student joining the rank L. This is the first year we get to have two new students achieving rank L." "Are you a rank L?" "Nahh, I'm a rank LL. And before you ask... there's 4 of us." she responded and entered her training room. WOW.. she must be really skilled.

I returned to the training room and found no one there. Weird.. maybe they don't need any more training because they're already the best. Who knows?? Kaya linukot ko ang aking dalawang kamay gamit ang muay thai gloves rope at akmang susuntukin ang punching bag nang may nakakuha sa aking attention.

Training nunchucks. I always wanted to try how to use nunchucks. So I started to move the training nunchucks along with my hand and body. But I ended up getting hit in my back and shoulders. But I didn't stop. I liked the pain. Just like earlier, physical pain overcame my emotional pain. So I continued all afternoon taking only a few minute break even if I was already crying and shouting because of the pain. I would have continued but my body couldn't take it anymore and I lost consciousness.
