Chapter 5: First Day

Charlotte's POV:

Pagkatapos naming kumain nang lunch, nagsibalikan nah kami sa kaniya kaniyang dorm. Sisimulan ko nah sanang mag-unpack nang bigla nalang sumigaw si kishly. "Charlotte bakit mo kilala si Lincoln freaking Ross?!" "Bagong friend ko??"  naguguluhan kong sagot. Wait Ross pala ang apelyedo niya? Hmm taray ahh.

"Do you know nah ang Ross family ang top 1 most powerful family pagdating sa underground business? And no one even dares to touch them. One wrong move and you're dead." dagdag pah ni Rezelle. "Dead as in patay?  Seryoso bah kayo?" tanong ko.

"Whaaat? Lahat naman atah ng pamilya dito sa school pumapatay ah, pero iba talaga ang pamilyang Ross." ani ni Rezelle. "And the Ross brothers are not a fan of girls, kasi nga halos lahat ng babae sa school ay lumalandi sa kanila kaya ayon nagagalit sila. So how did you.. not only became friends with one of them, but napatawa mo pah?" napaisip naman ako sa tanong ni Kishly, paano kaya? I mean naging madaldal lang naman ako ehh.

"Ewan ko din, hehehh." tinitigan lang nila ako at nagkabit balikat lang ako bilang sagot sa kanilang mga titig. Habang ako ay nag u-unpack, may isa akong duffel bag nah naglalaman ng aking hoyt alpha rx-4 & axius bow with atleast 3 dozens of carbon express maxima hunter arrows, a set of smith & wesson SWK8CP throwing knives, and my sig sauer - P229 pistol.

I know a lot of this stuff 'cause my grandfather who has a son that apparently runs an underground business, used to be a soldier, ironic isn't it? And I used to hunt wild animals in the forest with my father and my older brothers every 2 or 3 weeks ever since I was young, I always thought it was weird but now I know why.

Next day*

Me, Christine and Lian are now heading to room 002 for our first class, when suddenly a bunch darts where thrown at us. I could feel it in my upper arm then suddenly everything was black.

"Uhh-- my head." when I woke up, my head felt like it was smashed with a rock, but then I remember being hit with a dart and collapsing. I suddenly looked at my surrounding, high trees and different kinds of plants sorrounded me. I then noticed the high stone walls, more likely fieldstones, sorrounding the entire forest. "What the hell is happening?" I murmed to myself.

"Its called 'the venatio' a hunt, a chase, a game, where you have to do whatever it takes to survive." a girl appeared and talked to me. I noticed a simple yet elegant green oblong brooch with gold in its side attached to her shirt. "Who are you?" I asked. "Let's just say i go by the name Sekhmet Phoenix. And i'm here to inform you why you are here, and tell you the rules." napatango lang ako sa sinabi niya.

"You are here because every year the new students have to prove theirselves and earn their rank according to the result of 'the venatio'. The ranks are LLL, LL, L, A, B, C, and D, LLL being the highest. All you have to do is remain unscathed, you can earn points by injuring other students and if you get injured, you're out. Your points will determine your rank and if you're the last one standing, you will earn 100 points, and that's enough to reach rank A. And beware because current students can also join 'the venatio' to get a new rank, either it is lower or higher than their current ones. The rules are no killing, and you can only choose 1 equipment and 3 throwing knives. " she explained and pointed out all kinds of equipment in the table. "Goodluck, we're all watching." she added.

As I looked at the equipments lying in the table, the hoyt alpha rx-4 & axius bow caught my attention, it was like an exact replica of the one i had in my dorm. I took the bow, wore a quiver with a number of arrows and stuffed 3 throwing knives in my knee high boots. As i turned around Sekhmet was nowhere to be found. "Well this is one hell of a first day."
