little heartbreaks

You were stitching my heart back together,
Happy to tether it with pleasure,
But the small pierces and pricks
Tricked me into thinking
That you were playing tricks.
Building me up to hurt me,
Sewing me up to pull the strings,
So I cut you off like you meant nothing to me.

My fabric scissors slashed your thread,
Could have gnawed you off with my teeth,
But I wanted to make it quick and I'd rather keep it clean.

You were stabbing me out of malice,
Or at least that's what I believed.
Little did I know you were trying to stop the  bleeding.

And trust me, that I can now see.

I'm reminded of your gentle touch,
The unintentional pain and sincere apologies.
But your tender love on my tender wounds
Are now just memories.

Self sabotage through unwoven thread,
Little heartbreaks from undone seams.
You'll forever stay in my broken heart,
And embellish my daydreams.
