It was a day as per usual. We were woken up, Travis was snippy, Will was incredibly perky... y'know, as it has been recently. The waffles were purple, though. So was the syrup. And... the strawberries. Travis went to pour whipped cream on his waffles, but that was purple too.

"Surprise! I've dyed everything purple today!" Will chirped, seeming quite proud of himself. I didn't understand why he was so excited about this. It's just purple.

The feral cat Travis dragged in hopped into the table and started lapping at his whipped cream. He just shoved the poor kitty's face from his food. "Sauce, stop!! You'll get poisoned!!"

"Poisoned? It's just whipped cream." He shot Travis a confused glance, took the sealed up bowl in his arms along with a bag, and headed for the doorway. "Don't let Sauce eat the strawberries, though."

"Why not? Don't kitties like strawberries?" I thought aloud, looking at the feline that was desperately trying to lap up the mountain of whipped cream.

Travis just kept shoving the cat away while he tried to eat his food. That cat hissed at him and started clawing at him to get his whipped cream. It was relentless in its struggle to get the fluffy topping.

"...Just don't let him eat the strawberries. I'll be back soon. Be good!" With that, Will was on his way like he was every day, off to the basement.

I rested my head in my hands grumpily, not touching my food. "...I don't wanna be good," I muttered under my breath. "I wanna be evil."

"You saw the bag he was carrying too, right? He usually just brings the bowl downstairs. That's suspicious." Travis had to speak up relatively loudly to have his voice heard over the cat hissing at him.

"Yeah, but you do know you're bleeding, right?" I motioned towards his arm, which had his sleeve all torn up and blood dripping from the cat scratches. It was a gruesome sight to say the absolute least.
"I don't care!!!" he shouted, shoving the cat back once more. He grabbed my arm and pulled me out of my chair, and it felt like he dislocated my shoulder in the process. "You're coming with me. We're gonna go see what he's up to."

I grabbed my waffle and just shoved it right into my mouth while I still could. "That's totally poggers," I added with my mouth full of purple waffle (not 100 percent sure what it means).
(p/n; pog no way)
"Das rite. Now, let's get down there." He started dragging me towards the doorway and led me all the way to the backyard, outside the basement doors.

He opened the doors as quietly as possible once more, sighing when one of the doors squeaked on the way up. Hopefully it wasn't loud enough to draw attention. With that, we both started tip-toeing down the stairs, hiding behind the wall. There wasn't any chatter down there initially. The silence was broken by the ever familiar voice of Will, however.

"We've come a long way, have we not? We've come too far. We're almost there," he called out to the crowd before him.

"Yes we are, William," they called back.

There was some splashing on the ground, perhaps from scooping from the bowl. "Yes! I hope we have all made our final peace with the outside!"

"Yes we have, William," they called back.

"I'm glad! After all, this is our home now. This will be our eternal resting place! We will be eternal followers! Xemüg will carry us forward!"

"Yes he will, William!" they called back excitedly.

"He is watching us right at this very moment! His hands are extended, waiting for us to take them! We will leave these mortal bodies and become one with Xemüg!"

"Praise be to Xemüg!" they called back.

"On the count of three, we will all drink, as to link our souls as we travel up to him!!"

"Yes, William!" they called back.

"One..."
Something definitely felt off. It felt like we forgot something. Travis's fists were balled up and he looked like he was about to jump down the stairs, so I don't think he felt the same way I did. There was definitely something off, though. I just... couldn't put my finger on it.

"Two..."

I heard something clawing against the stairs at a quick pace. It was then that I realized what we forgot- we didn't close the doors. The cat was bounding down the basement stairs, hissing and staring us down. I stopped myself from screaming, but Travis let out a gasp.

"Th...huh?"

The cat bound down the stairs so fast that he slammed into the wall, causing a great silence among Will and his guests. The kitty hissed at them, backing into a wall. We heard footsteps approaching the stairs and knew damn well that we could either hotfoot it out of there or get killed.

We chose the former.

Before whoever was coming to see the stairwell was able to look at us, we scurried out of that basement like our lives depended on it- mostly because they did.

I tripped as soon as I got out, though. I felt it was necessary to not move a single inch, and Travis didn't rush to help me either. I just laid there and hoped everything would pass. Seconds felt like minutes as we both listened intently to see if they would be coming up the stairs. To our surprise, no one came up.

We felt it best to start running around outside and get dirty to act like we lost Sauce and were busy searching for him before Will got done with whatever he was doing. At least then it would give us an alibi when he inevitably questions us...
