Will had nudged us awake again. Travis and I were sitting at the table, awaiting whatever Will was prepared to feed us. My face felt... pretty weird, though. It felt like something was scavenging through all my circuits, and now everything's out of place. I probably slept weird.
"Well, here you are! I felt I should reward you both for such good behavior, so I made some sorbet! I know it's usually a dessert food, but I felt you two earned dessert for breakfast!" He slid us both bowls of peach sorbet, complete with toppings and everything.
I didn't really touch it. I said thank you and then began shoving my fingers in my mouth, trying to fiddle around with the inner mechanics in my head. There's gotta be a gear stuck or something...
Travis stabbed his fork into one of the peach slices on the side of the bowl and began licking it. He seemed quite tired, and a little dead inside, if I'm being honest. Then, he jammed the peach right into his mouth and winced in pain.
"Trav, you seem disgruntled. What's up?" Will leaned over the table, trying to get a good look at him to make his own assumption. "Is something hurting you?"
Travis lifted up his lips to show a big hole in his mouth where a tooth once was. "I lost a tooth, and the tooth fairy didn't even come..." he sighed in defeat. He raised his hand to show a bloodied-up tooth. "All that was under my pillow was this..."
Will shook his head and smiled, picking up his juice pouch and sipping it a little. "Don't worry. I'm sure the Tooth Fairy didn't know you lost a tooth. You need to write her a note, remember?"
"...Oh yeah." Travis took a scoop of the sorbet and shoved it in his mouth, placing the tooth back in his pocket. It was only then that I realized Travis was wearing all white clothes just like Will was. Or... was that just my vision acting up again?
Will looked over to me, placing his juice pouch aside. "What about you, BB? You haven't said much. What's up with you?" He seemed a bit confused on why I had my fingers in my mouth, so I pulled them out."W-well, uh, my brain hurts." I coughed into my elbow, only to see that there was some black fluid that came out when I did so. "Oh, gross. That's yucky."
"Hmm... you might've slept too rough. You've got a few circuits loose. Don't worry, that's something we can fix lickety-split!" Will chirped, finishing off his juice pouch and then crushing it in his hand.
I was taken aback by how confident he was that I had loose circuits. He must have a secret hobby working on robots...! I knew he was a cool guy! "Neato...!"
Travis scratched at the side of his face, and then turned to look at me. I saw he had a big bruise on the side of it. "Are you gonna eat that at all?" He had also completely finished off his sorbet.
"U-uh, no, you can have it..."
"Sweet." He dragged it close to him with his fork and began shoveling it down, not paying any attention to his bruise. I felt pretty concerned for him. It looked like it hurt.
Will got up and cheerfully headed for the doorway. "Well, I suppose I should get down to the basement again, huh? I'll bring up some cool junk I found down there. I also have to do some cleaning, so if you smell something gross, it's probably in the basement." He disappeared without another word, but he didn't take the bowl he usually took this time. Strange.
Travis had already finished the second bowl of sorbet, so he got up to clean up the waste. "That was pretty good. You missed out, BB," he chuckled with pride.
I shook my head as I popped open my faceplate a little and started prodding at my inner workings. "It feels like someone welded my endoskeleton together. That's so weird."
"Well, it feels like I need a new tooth, so who sucks worse? Me." Travis went into the pantry to pull out a pack of fruit gummies, promptly shoving one right where his tooth used to be. "That should do it.""That's a good look. You should pull out the rest of your teeth and do that with all those," I murmured sarcastically while I prodded my finger against my insides.
"That's not a bad idea, actually!"
"Travis, no."
He inhaled sharply and walked out of the room. I saw a hammer in his hand. This maniac was on the way to go bash his teeth out. I knew Will would be frustrated that I didn't do anything to stop him, so I closed my faceplate and slunked out of my chair to go stop him.
When I caught up to him, I simply snatched the hammer out of his hand and waved my finger in front of his face. "No. Bad."
"Suck it, metal boy. I'm gonna look like Tekashi 6ix9ine." He tried to wrestle the hammer out of my hands, but he's seemed to have forgotten the fact that his efforts are like trying to pull a bearing ball out from a hydraulic press's grip. "Give it back or I'll toss you into the river."
"You can get it back when Will says you can bash out your teeth!! Until then, you simply cannot be trusted!!" I pressed my foot up against his gut to push him away from me.
It seems I wasn't ready for his next tactic, since he just took my foot and pulled it up, tipping me over and sending me to the floor. Something definitely broke when I landed. I could feel it in my soul.
Travis snatched the hammer that I had dropped on my way down. "Winner winner, chicken dinner," he sang as he left the room while leaving me laying on the floor. What a jerk...!
All I could do was stare at the ceiling as I realized I wouldn't be standing on my feet for quite a while. Travis had paralyzed me from the waist down with his malfeasance. I'll be stuck here until the end of time- or, until Will comes back up.While I was down, I saw something a little strange. There was a jerry can laying on the floor. I army-crawled closer to it and sniffed it, noting that it definitely smelled recently used. Had Will forgotten it...?
