The first month and a half of summer went by pretty fast. One day following the other. I spent a lot of time outside, sometimes alone sometimes with my friends. I caught up on some anime's that I started and learning dance choreographies for fun.

You know just enjoying the fact that I don't have any homework.

During the first month, I didn't spend much time with my school friends. Instead, I took time to hangout with some old friends and my neighbour Maeva, also known as my twin soul sister.

In the two first weeks of August, Natalie, Melody, Kimberly, Irina and I went to Valleyview mall to hang out one last time before I go to summer camp and then move to Toronto.

Our day at the stores consisted of a lot of hugs, laughs, fangirlism and of course deep talk without forgetting a few tearful eyes here and there.

Until now my summer was going great.

No drama, just good times.

This morning, I woke up to my sister jumping on my stomach.

Not the best way of waking up trust me, especially if you were having an amazing dream where you were the queen of your own kingdom and you could assist seeing the people you hate being tortured.

Once oxygen came back to my lungs, I rolled out of bed and went to eat breakfast before my mom starts yelling at me to get down.

Tomorrow is going to be the day where all the new campers are going to arrive and get settled.

I would be lying if I said that I wasn't excited but I just hope that it goes better than last time...

Let me explain.

Back when I was still in 7th grade, I went for the first time in my life to a summer camp. But my mom didn't do enough research and it ended up being an evangelist camp.

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm catholic. Just maybe not the best one.

To be honest I don't believe in god anymore...

So imagine being around people that only talk about him and worship him!

I felt out of place AND, I was stuck with a bunch of kids because my mom insisted that I be in the younger age group on the same week as my little sister Chloe.

Not the best experience ever but I have to admit I've still made good memories.

I packed my bag with everything I thought I would need. Shirts, pants, hoodies, my blue swimsuit, my pyjamas, a toothbrush, sunscreen, etc. You know, the usual. And since phones were absolutely not allowed, I packed a book to entertain myself when needed.

The whole day I kept making scenarios of events that could occur during my staying at the camp. From fun ones to extremely embarrassing ones. Definitely making plans in advance to get myself out of situations I didn't want to be in.

I barely slept the whole night. Luckily, I didn't wake up with dark circles under my eyes the next morning.

"Nous allons partir à midi alors sois sûr que tu as tout dans ta valise et que tu vois ton amie avant de partir.(we will be leaving at noon so make sure you have everything in your suitcase and that you go see your friend before we go)" my mom informed me when she came up to see if I was still in bed.

***

A bit before noon, I ate a bagel and went to knock on Maeva's door while my mom was packing the car.

"Oh wassup Lyra" she greeted me as she opened the front door." Shouldn't you be packing?" She asked.

"I already did that yesterday and I'll be leaving in about ten minutes but I wanted to talk to you before I go"I admitted

"Ok then what do you want to talk about?"

"Well nothing in particular... oh wait! I had this awesome dream the other night!" I exclaimed.

"Really!? What was it?" She asked sitting on the stairs in front of her porch.

" Well I was the queen of my own kingdom and I could do whatever I wanted so I ordered one of the guards to bring me donuts but they never came which I was sad about BUT that's not the fun part." I assured. " You know that girl in «  Akame ga kill »? The one with the weird mutant dog and that didn't want to die?"

" yeah..."

"Well... I finally killed her :). Best feeling in the world I swear " I proudly stated making us both laugh before my mom called me.

"Lyra, on s'en va. Dit bye à ton amie.( Lyra we're leaving. Say bye to your friend)" she told me.

"Ok maman, j'arrive.( ok mom, I'm coming)" I answered before turning to Maeva. " See you when I get back ok?"

"Ok and if you can don't forget to call me ok" she warned me.

"Sure thing" I assured her before stepping into our iconic back breaking hug.

The trick here is bending side to side as much as possible and looking like two idiots while doing it.

The whole time you might feel like your back is about to snap but trust me it's totally worth it at the end.

And with that I got in the car to go to my next destination.
