I listened to music for most of the ride while looking through the window and daydreaming about how my new life in Toronto might look like.
Along the ride I ended up dozing off into a peaceful nap.

I woke up to the car door that I was leaning on opening and almost making me fall out of the car.
"Lyra, lèves toi et viens m'aider avec tes affaires ( Lyra, get up and come help me with your stuff)" my mom ordered.
"Fine..." I unbuckled my seatbelt and went to go help my mom take my things out of the trunk.
Right after, we headed towards the main building to check in while I took in the view around me.
The camp was like any other plain summer camp you could think of.
All the cabins were situated up a hill next to a forest and the cafeteria was situated at the bottom of the hill close to the main cabin along with a few playing structures and a small circle arena which was occupied by a few 13 year olds playing around with a ball.
The main cabin was entirely made out of wooden logs and had a nice glass door leading inside. A massive chandeler emitting a nice yellow glow from its many fake incrusted candles decorated the ceiling reveling the numerous bugs that must've been attracted by the light. The interior itself was neatly presented making it look like a hotel reception with its fire place, couches and fake bear skin in the center of the wooden floor.
We were greeted at the front desk by a blond girl with pastel blue acrylic nails that had "Angel" written on a tag pinol to her shirt.
"Hi, I would like to get my daughter registered" my mom stopped to put her purse down on the desk.
"Of course, her name please" the girl asked looking down at some sheets of paper.
"Lyra" I responded. "Lyra Bolton"
"Okay Lyra, let me see..." she scanned the papers to find my name and crossed it out with a highlighter once she found it. " Found it. Okay, I have you registered. You can go outside and play or go talk to people, you will meet your monitor in about an hour and we will be making the cabin tours" she instructed.
"Okay thank you"
"And miss Bolton we will need you to fill in a form before you leave." She handed a small document and a pen to my mom.
"Okay Lyra I'll fill this in and come to say goodbye to you before leaving so you can go outside and look around."
"Okay" I made my way to the glass door and pulled on the handle to open it.
I got hit by a warm breeze of summer and the strong sent of the pine trees located in the nearby forest when I stepped outside. I looked around to see what the other kids that had arrived here before me were entertaining themselves with. Since I'm not the person to get out of my way to meet new people, I went to go get my book out of my bag and sat on a flat rock located under a tall tree hoping someone would eventually come and talk to me so that I wouldn't have to.
After about five minutes, my mom emerged from the main cabin and came to see me to tell me she was leaving.
"Ok je m'en vais, n'oublie pas de te comporter et de mettre de la crème solaire. N'oublie pas! C'est très important ( ok Im going, don't forget to behave yourself and to put sunscreen. Don't forget! It's very important)"
"Ok maman, je te promets que je ne vais pas oublier. ( ok mom, I promise I won't forget)" She bent down to kiss my forehead before hopping into the car and waving at me while she started the engine.
My gaze lingered on the grey car until it turned the corner and disappeared behind the trees.
I sighed and redirected my eyes to the words written in black ink on the pages of my book.
"Uhh.. excuse me..." an unfamiliar voice called out to me making me look up from the book.
It was a girl. A tall girl with blue streaks intertwined with the rest of her curly brown hair that was tied up in a ponytail.
"hi, I'm Evangeline"
