Having Fun

Joohyun was getting ready for her day out with Taehyung. She was both excited and a little nervous, since it was her first time going out with a guy, alone, even though Taehyung was her friend. It's ok, she tells herself, it's Taehyung, you hang out with him everyday.

She was standing in front of the mirror wearing a red v-neck dress with a white blouse underneath. After debating what to wear for almost an hour, she had finally settled on this dress. Her mother had gotten it for her and it was her favourite, though she had only worn it once before, on a trip with her family.

She checks the text Taehyung sent her, once again. She was to meet him in front of a cafe called 'Heart&Seoul' in Yeonnam-dong at 9 am. This was the first text that he had ever sent her. Even though they had exchanged numbers a while back, neither of them had called or messaged each other yet. To be honest, she was a little disappointed that he hadn't texted her even once after asking her number so enthusiastically.

Noting that she had some time left, she walks over to her bed and takes out a box from under it. She turns to sit on the bed and opens it. It had her collection of small antiques and just things she found pretty, that she had saved over time, ever since she was a little girl.

She takes out a small round ballerina music box that her dad had given her when she had first started doing ballet. It was handmade, with little pink roses and gold leaves intricately painted on it. It plays the tune of Swan Lake on opening it, while a tiny figure of ballerina spins around. She has two more music boxes in her collection. One is antique and gothic looking, which plays a haunting tune called 'Melancholy'. The last one is her favourite. It is made of carved polished wood and plays a tune called 'Roaring Tides'. The melody always calms her down and she would listen to it for hours whenever she was feeling anxious.

She then opens a small jewelry box, which contained a few pieces of antique jewelry like small lockets, rings, and so on. She never wore any of it, she just liked how they looked. Casually going through the box, she finds a pair of round antique earrings.
She walks to the mirror and holds them up to her ears. They seem to go very well with her dress. She wonders for a little while if they would seem like too much, before deciding to wear them.

As she comes downstairs, she finds her aunt eating the breakfast she had left for her. "Hey Joohyun, leaving already?" she asks with her mouth full. "Yes, it's time," Joohyun says.

"Ok, have fun! And don't stay too late. Call me if you need anything!" Aunt Taehee waves at her. "Ok, sure!" Joohyun yells as she hurries out.

°°°

Joohyun was standing in front of the cafe waiting for Taehyung. She was a little early. She was looking around the little alley, at the charming cafes and diners lining the street. She hadn't been in this street before when she came here with her friends.

It was a little past nine and she was contemplating giving Taehyung a call, wondering if he was running late. She was looking at her phone having an internal debate, when she hears him. "Joohyun!" She looks up to see him walking down the street.
