I wake up to a beautiful sight. El's sleeping face, right in front of me. She usually gets up far earlier than I did, so I rarely got to see her sleeping face. Though I'd caught her staring at mine a few times.
She'd fallen asleep the moment her head hit the pillow. I had been planning on chatting a bit before we went to sleep, asking about her family and talking about what we were going to do from here on in maybe, but she'd fallen asleep mid-sentence, and I knew all my plans had to wait.
I trace her eyebrow, and then move on to her nose and then to her lips. So pretty. Hopefully our kid would take after El. El frowns at my touch, and shifts closer to me, her grip on my hand tightening. She'd held my hand all through the night and my right arm had consequently fallen asleep, what with being right under me. But I knew from experience that I had no way to free myself, not until she had woken up. So I waited it out, as always.
She frowns again, and I knew she was about to wake up, so I memorized that sleeping face as if I'd never see it again. Even though I knew, it was more probable that I'd wake up to it every day for the rest of my life.
El squints at me, then yawns. "Good morning."
"Morning," I kiss her forehead. I didn't have morning breath as Brianna, though I did as Brian, which made for some pretty embarrassing mornings for me. El never minded though. "How are you feeling?"
"Really warm," she says, snuggling against me. "A little queasy..."
"Do you need to throw up?" I ask, ready to carry her in my arms and rush to the toilet if I had to.
"No... It's not to that point yet," she says, smiling. "I just want to stay here with you for a while." She goes limp in my arms, relaxing, and I'm amazed by how easily she gets comfortable. Then again, just smelling the scent of her shampoo had the same effect on me.
We lie there for a half-hour or so, until something terrible happens.
There is a knock on the door. When we don't answer, it knocks again. And again.
"What?" I bark, having run out of patience.
My mother opens the door just slightly and peeks her head through. El, curious as to what was going on, props herself up on an elbow and leans forward, pressing her body against me, so she has a view of my mother that isn't obstructed by me.
"Good morning lovelies. Just want to let you know that I contacted the doctor and she'll be here at ten," my mother chirps.
I groan.
"Make sure you're ready by then, okay?"
I make a semi-coherent grumble in reply. The door shuts.
"Could have given us a little longer," I mutter under my breath. El laughs at this and rests her head on my upper arm. Then she kisses the skin there. Another kiss. And another. Butterfly kisses all over my arm, leaving goosebumps in its wake.
Despite myself I can feel my nipples hardening from just this little contact, and I let out a small moan. It had been ages since I'd gotten any.
And I want El. I always do.
Unfortunately, it isn't the time or the situation to be introducing El to female-female loving. I crane my neck in her direction, then shift myself so that she's on my chest, right above my breasts, then I kiss the top of her head.
"I love you," she murmurs into my shirt.
"I love you too," I reply. We lie there for a while longer, with her resting on my chest, then she gets up.
