After a few more days, things fell into a pretty stable rhythm. More stable than Natsu would've liked. Even though it was only the seventh day(A/N: Time skip of 4 days!) he began missing his friends at the guild, luckily he was able to call and talk with them every morning and night. Zeref had yet to return from his political meeting, which ended up being a bunch of formalities involving maintenance to the Etherion cannon, which was apparently a monumental event as it hasn't been repaired or managed for over fifteen years. Zeref normally would not have cared for the meeting or the time spent, but as Natsu was waiting back at the empire he couldn't help being annoyed and impatient. 'Just one more day. Just one more day. Just one more d-' he repeated in his head the final night before he would leave the next day at noon and finally see his brother.
Natsu was enjoying himself, he and Larcade were getting along well and spent a few hours sparring much to the fire wizards enjoyment. He ended up blowing a hole in the side of the palace causing a panic as the citizens figured it was some sort of terrorist attack. "You idiot!" Larcade exclaimed while pointing at the hole in the wall "You blew up an entire wall, they're expensive to replace!".
"No! You blew it up!" Natsu said, trying to shift the blame.
"How would I!? My magic doesn't make infernos or explosions!"
"Err- well maybe it does!"
"I think I'd notice if I ever made explosions capable of blowing up buildings!" The argument was quickly interrupted by the arrival of a few members of the royal guard and Invel.
Invel was heavily displeased with the twenty foot hole in the wall, and demanded the two to return to their rooms. Reluctantly the two of them returned to their, thankfully, separate chambers. Upon arriving in his room Natsu decided to call the guild, this was a horrible idea on his part as thanks to the time change, it was Five in the morning for them. That particular night Lucy took the lacrima home in case the dragon slayer called, it was agreed that they'd rotate it amongst themselves.
She shot out of bed in panic when it began ringing, fearing that this was an emergency like they all feared. 'Ohh no! I knew that black wizard was gonna try something sooner or later!' she thought as she fumbled with the device that was her only connection to her best friend. After struggling to work it as she was groggy, Natsu's face appeared. "Natsu! Are you okay!? Are you being held prisoner!? Do you need us to save you!?" She yelled without giving him time to answer or reply.
"W-what? No, I'm bored..." he began "Im stuck in my room cause I blew up a wall-"
"You woke me up because you were Bored!?" She yells into the lacrima "And you blew up a wall!? Don't tell me you blew up one of the Palace walls! That palace is over 100 years old!"
"Fine, I won't tell you I blew up a palace wall- but it was pretty cool!"
"You're gonna get us all killed, you know that right?" she sighs, rubbing her eyes that are telling her to get back in bed. "You're gonna get Zeref angry and he's gonna blow up half the continent or something."
"Uhh- he's not that bad you know. He's nice when you get to know him, kinda." Natsu explained for what felt like the hundredth time. "Plus he's not even back yet, he's at some meeting, he won't even know that the palace is missing a wall." This ended up not being true as Zeref was returning as Lucy and Natsu were talking. Little things like the weather and what kind of jobs she went on, which were none but she lied and made some up to entertain the 'imprisoned' wizard.
As Zeref was finally within viewing distance of the city, and palace, his heart stopped as he saw smoke coming out of a large hole in one of the walls. He immediately knew what caused this. 'Natsu! When I get my hands on you- Im- Im gonna- what am I gonna do with you' he sighed in frustration. The entire time he was gone he was rearranging his schedule, and was even trying to work out how to eventually tell Natsu the truth about their relationship. He had it all written out in his notepad, which he kept close at all times for fear of losing his long devised plan. "Sir, can this go any faster? It seems the palace has had some structural rearrangement..." He giggled slightly at the thought of what Invel must've done with his younger brother.
