Another morning another day, Day Eight to be exact. Natsu, having gotten used to the schedule of the palace, was awake and full of energy. Being forced to stay in his room all day was not a good idea on Invels part. For a reason that Natsu couldn't place he was a bit disappointed that Zeref had not come to his room to wake him up. 'Did I miss him when he was gone?' He questioned himself, 'Why would I hardly know the guy, I'm probably just bored.'. He concluded it would be a good idea to go to the Dark Wizards room before going to breakfast. The only issue was actually getting there. He had never gone to his room so he had no idea where it was. So like any of his great plans it required him to follow his nose.
His room ended up being 3 stories above his own, and on the opposite side of the palace. 'How does he stand walking that far every day just to go back and forth between his room and anything else in this damn palace!?' he thought to himself as he approached the door panting from the run. He knocked a few times but after getting no response he put his ear to the door, he heard the shower running. 'Ahh, he's showering, that must be why he didn't come down yet' he realized. The door was unlocked so he slipped inside.
After closing the door he noticed that the room was barren. Sure it had a lot of furniture, and some paintings on the walls, but it lacked any personal items. It felt like a larger grander guest room, not exactly what Natsu was expecting from someone who has had four hundred years to live and make memories. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed that it wasn't totally devoid, there were two picture frames face down next to the bed.
The moment he started walking towards them a certain raven haired boy came from the bathroom, before he could say 'hello' he noticed what had peaked the fire mage's interest. His two most treasured possessions, a photo of his family, Natsu included, and a photo of him and his beloved Mavis. Immediately he cast an illusion to hide its contents. 'Wait how do I explain having two empty photo frames just sitting on my desk!' he panicked wondering if he could change it to something else but alas was out of time. His brother picked up the photo frames and when he went to examine them closer he found them empty.
Natsu was disappointed that they were empty, he was hoping to get a glimpse into the Dark Mages' life. Suddenly he sensed eyes on him and turned around, almost dropping the two frames. He met the eyes of the room's inhabitant. "Oh hey, Zeref... I- err, came to get you before I went for breakfast." Zeref was really touched that his little brother came and found him before going to eat, something he knew the salmon haired boy enjoyed greatly. "But- why do you have two empty picture frames..." he asked innocently.
"Ohh, umm, I got those a long time ago from a friend. I never really had a use for them..." It wasn't a total lie, he got those frames from Mavis and her troupe as a thank you after training them to use magic. It was really the only item they had that wasn't an essential. "But thank you for coming to get me, we can head down after I change." He said with a smile remembering once again how considerate his brother was, in his opinion.
"Sure!" He said before scrambling for the door. After shutting it behind him he walked over to one of the walls in the hallway and slouched down. Within a minute the ravenet was walking out his door. "Ready?" He asked standing up from his spot against the wall.
"Ready" he nodded.
The brothers walked into the dining hall, where only Larcade, Invel, Brandish, Dimaria, and Ajeel were left. 'Seems like the others already finished and left' Zeref thought to himself. He sat down in his usual spot and Natsu sat in the seat next to him. "So Invel, about that hole in the wall, any news?". Both Larcade and Natsu choked a little on whatever they were eating at the reminder of the property damage they caused, well Natsu caused.
