As Sora and his company reached the castle, they noticed that there was no actual entrance, but instead, what appeared to be a portal.
Sora: Is this how we get in?
Donald: It's gotta be! There's no other entrance!
Goofy: We should give it a shot. After all, Y/n is in there.
Sora: You're right. C'mon, let's go!
They all ran into the green portal and were sent into a some kind of realm between reality. They looked around, amazed at the colors and keeping an eye out for anymore enemies.
And those they did find.
Hundreds of Dusks suddenly appeared before them, ready to fight. Before Sora could engage one of them, a circle of fire came around and an explosion of fire eliminated a whole group of Dusks. A familiar red-headed Nobody appeared before them
Axel: Don't stop moving, or the Darkness will overtake you!
Sora: Axel, why are you helping us?
Axel: Don't ask questions, just get going!
He was then tackles by a Dusk and it raised its arms, poised to kill. Before it could, Sora ran up and smacked it away with his Kingdom Key.
Axel: Alright look, I kidnapped Kairi so I could get something. I felt guilty so I went to release her, but she was missing. Now, sources claim she and two others are here in the castle! Go find them and help them!
However, Sora already made up his mind. While it wasn't in the best of was, Axel has saved Sora a few other times before, so now it was time to return the favor.
Sora: Leave us alone!
He readied himself for combat, as did Axel as he realized that Sora couldn't be swayed. As they battled against the seemingly never-ending wave of Dusks, they were surrounded completely. Sora hit back another incoming Dusk away as it lunged towards him.
Sora: There's too many!
Axel: You know, I kinda liked it better when they were on my side!
He also hit another Dusk away.
Sora: Feeling a little regret?
Axel: Nah. I can handle these punks. Watch this!
He jumps into the crowd as his Chakrams began to circle around him, surrounding him with fire. With a loud yell, he practically exploded as fire consumed everything in the area. Sora and his friends were unharmed by the attack and searched for Axel, not seeing anymore Dusks. They finally saw him laying on ground. They ran over to him.
Sora: You're... fading away.
Axel: Well, that's what happens when you put your whole being into an attack, know what i mean? Not that Nobodies actually HAVE beings... right? Anyway, I digress. Go, find Kairi. And... tell her I'm sorry.
Sora: When we find her, you can tell her that yourself!
Axel: Think I'll pass. My heart just wouldn't be in it, you know? Haven't got one. Hehe...
Sora: Axel, what were you trying to do?
Axel: I wanted to see Roxas and Y/n. They... were the only ones I liked. If I could find Roxas, together we could find Y/n, then escape the Organization for good, together. Funny, you remind me a lot like him.
Sora: Well, I know Y/n, we're friends.
Axel: Is he alright?
Sora: Saïx took him here to the castle.
