⠀"Daniel, I'm sorry-" I sobbed, clutching my knees to my chest. we sat in his house, a place I hadn't visited many times.

⠀"stop, just stop, Cassie!" Daniel shouted, pacing around the room. "I should've know it would always be about him. God, I'm so fucking stupid, aren't i? I bet that's what you thought, that I wouldn't find out about you and him. you kissed him in front of everyone! it was humiliating."

⠀my voice was wracked with sobs as I stared at him helplessly. "no, no, D-Daniel, I didn't mean to hurt you. it was one kiss, Ashton's just my best friend!"

⠀"I bet you couldn't wait to get to him, now that he's single. fuck, I can't believe you! we finally get serious and you go mess things up! at my big game, no less! do you even care about me?"

⠀"I do, Daniel, I do-"

⠀"do you love me?" he asked, stepping close to me suddenly, our faces dangerously close.

⠀"Daniel, love is a b-big word-"

⠀"it's a yes or no question, Cas! we've been dating for almost 2 years, Cassie! 2 years! I can't fucking deal with this." he ran his hands through his untamed hair.

I didn't know what to say, I didn't love him. and I didn't feel the same about him. maybe I never had felt as strongly about him as he did about me.

⠀"Daniel, that was the only time anything had ever happened, and I didn't even know it was going to happen!"

⠀"I bet you kissed him back," Daniel said, ignoring me. "I bet you fucking liked it."

I grabbed my bag from his bedroom floor and got up, heading towards his door. before I could reach the handle he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.

⠀"I loved you. the worst thing is I still do."

⠀"you deserve better." I sniffed quietly, drying my eyes. "I'm sorry."

⠀"whatever." he said, releasing my wrist and opening his bedroom door for me. "let yourself out."

I ran out of his house as quickly as I could, and didn't stop running. I ran until I didn't know where I was anymore. I ran until my legs ached and my heart raced and my breathing became heavy. it started raining but on I ran, feeling like I could never escape Daniel, and the terrible thing I had done to him.
