Narrators pov:
All of them walked down the hallways while the younger kids showed the older kids around.
Crystal pointed towards 2 large doors then said, "The cafeteria is right there."
"But if you go past the cafeteria and continue going straight, you should see two hallways. If you turn left, it's the library. If you turn right, it's the computer rooms." Vincent instructed.
Min-Jun added, "And as you exit the library, you go straight then the halls displayed in front of you are for each grade level."
"Oh okay, what grade y'all in?" Mateo asked.
Crystal answered, "3rd grade."
"No way, us too." Jackson stated.
"What does your schedule look like?" Vinnie questioned.
The older kids reached into their bags and pulled out their schedules. "Here," they said as they handed the younger kids their schedule.
"Oh you have the same class as us!" Minnie bursted out with.
"Great!" Mateo said.
"If you'd like, we can-" Crystal started but got cut off when someone pushed her to the ground and walked away.
Princeton gasped and helped her up while saying, "Woah, are you okay?"
She replied, "Yeah, it happens everyday.."
"Why?" Jackson had asked.
The younger kids looked at each other and then answered, "It's nothing, don't worry about it."
Mateo commented, "But it seems like something if-"
"If we say it's nothing, don't worry about it. Just mind your business." Vinci interrupted while staring at him with an irritated face.
Mateo nodded slowly and said, "Jeez, I'm sorry..."
Everyone stopped talking to one another so the air started to feel thick even though they were walking through wide, empty hallways.
Crystal said, "Ahahah how about you guys tell us about yourself?"
"What do you mean?" Prince asked.
Minnie said, "Maybe tell us background info... i-if you want to at least."
The older kids looked at each other with cautious faces then said, "Sure, ask us any question you'd like."
Vincent asked, "Where are you coming from?"
"H-huh? Where are we coming from..." Mateo asked, unsure of what to say.
Vinci then clarified for them, "Like where did you used to live?"
Mateo and Jackson looked at each other while saying, "Uhh..."
Princeton, with his quick thinking said, "We came from Hawaii."
Min-Jun and Vinnie smiled then replied, "Oh that's awesome! It must've been pretty over there."
"Yeah! How come y'all moved here?" Crystal asked.
Princeton replied, "Oh, for a fresh start, ya know?"
The younger kids nodded so Vincent asked another question for the boys, "Are you guys 7 years old?"
They shook their heads 'no' and responded, "We're 8 years old."
The younger kids replied, "Oh, we're 7. We'll turn 8 soon haha."
Jackson said, "Ah, so we're your elders," while lingering the 's' sound.
