Driving back home from the ice cream parlor, Avery and Charlotte bonds over their interest in ice cream and other junk food. Avery even told Charlotte that she was a better parent than Zach to which Charlotte replies that she was grateful to have him in her house. However their good time was interrupted by Charlotte's phone, which rang. She tries to grab a hold of her phone but drops it. Trying to find her phone, Charlotte looks down, loosing focus on the road.
"Auntie! Look out!" Avery exclaimed in fear.
Distracted by her phone, Charlotte looses the wheel, crashing the car into the side of the highway and on to a tree. Minutes later, the police and ambulance came to their aid only to find an unconscious Avery and a heavily wounded Charlotte. They were immediately brought to the hospital, where they were met by Zach and Jenna.
"My son! My son!" Jenna exclaimed in tears.
"My God. Charlotte," Zach mutters.
"Za...," Charlotte weakly mutters.
"I'm here. I'm here," Zach holds his sister's hand.
"We're losing her, doc!" One of the nurses exclaimed.
"Take care of Avery," Charlotte's last words before her heart rate flattens.
"No. No. Please," Zach kneels beside Charlotte.
"Zach. You have to see your son," Jenna tells Zach.
Jenna guides a guilt ridden Zach to his son. Can't believe what he was seeing, Zach walked toward his son and touches his forehead.
"I'm so sorry for everything," Zach apologizes for his actions.
"I was too late. I'm sorry," Zach blames himself.
"Mr. and Mrs. Yaleman. I'm Doctor Peter Pachuru. I will be your son's aid for his time in this hospital," The doctor introduces himself.
"Welcome, Dr. Pachuru. We are honored that you'll take care of our son," Jenna smiles.
"Just make sure that you'll cure him no matter what happens," Zach tells the doctor as he walks away.
"I'm so sorry. He's just confused," Jenna apologizes for her husband.
"I understand, ma'am," Dr. Pachuru smiles.
Jenna tries to comfort Zach, who was guilty for his actions to his son and his sister.
"I should've not called her," Zach sadly said.
"But still it wasn't your fault. You didn't know," Jenna contradicted.
"I should have apologized to her earlier. But I couldn't find the right time," Zach stated.
"But I just found out that there's no such thing as "right time", Zach added.
"Honey. Please," Jenna begs her husband to stop blaming himself.
2 weeks later...
"Mom. Dad," Avery wakes up.
"My God. Zach. You're awake," An overjoyed Jenna hugs her son.
"Mom...I...I can't feel my legs," Avery mumbles.
"Avery. Calm down. We can explain," Zach tries to calm his son down.
"I can't feel my legs!" Avery exclaims in fear.
"Mom! Dad! What's happening?" Avery becomes confused.
"Calm down. Take a deep breath. The doctor will be here soon," Zach comforts Avery.
