** my quotation marks button is all messed up, so excuse me using an apostrophe for the time being...**

** also: this chapter might be triggering to those with anxiety, as it is mentioned/described. Although, not too terribly, however, I will leave a note before as a warning. **

Ahsoka's eyes fluttered as morning brightness filled the room. Blinking the white spots from her eyes, she made to get up, but froze upon feeling someone else's touch resting against the small of her back. 'Lux's touch.' She reminded herself, her heart fluttering slightly upon the memory.

She remained still for a few moments more, feeling the mattress shift as Lux began to stir. Her body urged her to roll onto her side so that she could see his face, but Ahsoka knew that more than minimal adjusting would make him retreat his arm from where it lay on her back. 'That's the last thing I want.' She noted absentmindedly. For she was so used to rejecting affection, in fear that it would tarnish everything she's learned as a Jedi, that she forgot what it felt like. And now, as she felt Lux's sweet heartbeat pulse through his fingertips, she was in complete and utter awe of the feeling it gave her..and she didn't want it to go away.

Warmth, happiness, and security washed over her in waves, making the corners of her mouth twitch as she fought back a smile. But despite how wonderful it was, to have that kind of feeling, she knew, deep down, that it was wrong and against everything she's ever been taught.

'But a little can't hurt...' Ahsoka argued uneasily as she continued to stare at the opposite wall, her eyes wavering as she sought out the conflict inside her head. 'It's not like I can reverse time, or anything. What's been done is done, and that is that.'

Ahsoka then felt Lux's hand retreat as he rose from the bed, positioning himself in a seated position. The second his touch left her skin, Ahsoka felt the exposed section go cold...the warmth, the happiness, and security fading away just as if someone turned out the lights.

'Ahsoka?' Lux inquired after a brief pause.

'Uh-huh?' Ahsoka replied, quickly sitting up so that she could talk to him.

'Do you mind if we go to the Senator Rotunda today? Usually the day before the conference we have to do last minute preparations and organize documents...you know, senator stuff.' Lux spoke lightly, smiling softly, and Ahsoka couldn't bring herself to comprehend how he was taking everything so...casually, considering the previous night. A part of her was bursting with relief, but another part felt sad...put off. Was it simply nothing but a friendly gesture? Was it that easy to push away? 'It's probably for the best,' She concluded dimly, 'There was nothing to get my hopes up about, anyway.'

'Of course,' She replied plainfully, her blue eyes softening. 'Although, we have to be careful, afterall, the CIS is still after you.'

'Agreed.' Lux nodded firmly. 'Besides, I don't think I'm ready to die just yet.'

***

It was late when the two returned to the hotel room, and Ahsoka was exhausted from walking around the Rotunda all day. But it wasn't the length that weakened her necessarily, it seemed to be the dullness that surrounded the work of Senators that had made her tired. Although Ahsoka knew that they were critical in keeping the government stable, she couldn't help but wonder how Lux managed to do it. Sometimes she thought she had boring days, but now, just from witnessing a day in the life of Lux Bonteri, she was seriously rethinking her choice of words.

But it seemed to have no effect on Lux whatsoever. He was still his contained, humble self at the end of the day, and Ahsoka was simply dumbstruck.
