"Akaashi.."
Before Bokuto could even have time to process everything, Akaashi collapsed.
"Akaashi.." Bokuto pleads as he carry Akaashi inside his house.
"My legs won't budge."
He lay him down on the couch frantically looking for a towel to dry him with.
As Bokuto came back, he quickly dries Akaashi, hoping and praying it would somehow work out.
"Fuck, u-uh." he dials the ambulance through Akaashi's house phone as fast as he can and then quickly return to Akaashi, holding him close in between his lap.
"H-hey, uh, mama isn't home so I called the hospital, they'd be here soon," he pretended to ignore the whole situation, not wanting to admit anything to himself.
But none of it would work.
All his ignorance, the try-to-stay-strong game he was playing, all the silent prayers he was pleading to come true. No matter how hard he tries he can never change what's about to go down sooner or later.
"Hold on, please? Akaashi?" he finally cries, holding him tight.
"Your face." Akaashi points out weakly.
"I'm fine, okay? I-it's nothing." That was the truth. The bleeding of his face or all the painful scars he'd been ignoring was nothing compared to the pain of having to face reality. "You'll be fine too, okay?"
Akaashi smiles weakly, letting his own tears fall. There was no point in denying it. Instead, his ice cold hand touches Bokuto's bleeding cheek.
"I'm really sorry Bokuto-san," Akaashi barely whispered.
"Why are you saying sorry, Akaashi? T-there's nothing to be sorry for okay? Nothing at all."
It was hard. Pretending to be strong, that is.
"You look much more beautiful up close." Akaashi smiles genuinely as he stare at Bokuto with nothing but adore.
"I look like shit." Bokuto presses their forehead together and it all felt true- no- it was all ture.
The love they had was nothing but the truth.
"Why did you do that, Akaashi?" Bokuto cries, the lump in his throat making it harder to speak. "Why did you have to do that?"
"You know, I remember promising to protect a certain someone, and that happened to be you."
"But you also promised to stay with forever,"
Akaashi wasn't able to say anything else at the moment so he hugs Bokuto instead.
"You said you'll hug me for the first time ever--"
"I never wanted it to be like this."
They pulled away. "Like what?"
As stubborn as Bokuto Koutarou was, he still had a flame of hope. He still believes everything will be alright, that everything will all be fine at the end.
And how long will this last flame burn out, you ask?
About now, as Akaashi Keiji's weak body collapsed onto Bokuto's bruised arms.
"My body is betraying me." he chuckles.
"N-no, Akaashi," Bokuto cries loudly as he hold Akaashi's hand. "Stay with me please."
"I'm so sorry, Bokuto-san."
"No, Akaashi, stop it- stop- stop it now." he holds up a hand. "H-here, promise me you'll stay with me."
Akaashi doesn't bulge. He's just staring deep onto Bokuto's eyes.
"Please, Akaashi. Promise me you'll stay--"
With all the strength left in his body, Akaashi Keiji shuts Bokuto Koutarou up with a longing kiss.
This was all it took for Bokuto to finally accept everything.
Even if it did hurt.
Even if reality will shatter him to pieces.
They pull away, Akaashi getting weaker and weaker every second.
With a shaking voice, Bokuto whispers, "Please, stay with me for a little longer."
Akaashi nods, holding Bokuto's hand tightly, "You'll be alright." he says in a voice anyone could barely hear. "You'll finish school and then be a famous volleyball star, like how you always wanted." he carress his cheek ever so softly, but it felt like he didn't want to let go. "You go show them what Bokuto Koutarou is all about hmm? You'll be the best in the whole world, and I--just know that I, Akaashi Keiji, will be so proud of you."
Bokuto nods, "I don't want to let you go."
"You'll be happy--"
"I can never be happy without you."
"I want you to be happy,"
"Then don't leave me." he cries aloud, "Please."
Akaashi chuckels. "You are so stubborn, Koutarou."
"Because I love you, Akaashi, and I am not ready to let you go."
"I love you too, Bokuto-san," Akaashi pulls him, closing the gap between them,"And you have to let me go."
Before Bokuto could say anything else, Akaashi pushes his neck down, finally letting their lips meet once again.
Please wake me up from this nightmare.
Until Bokuto feels the hand in his neck loosening and the lips on his own slowly pulling apart.
No matter how loud the sirens were outside,Bokuto still hears his loud, painful sobs as his gold eyes meets with the raven's closed ones.
