Zayn's POV

"Have fun!" I said, as they both hugged me, smiling wide, and snuck out.

Emily and Louis made each other so happy. They were perfect for each other. With them, it was all about fun and enjoying each other's company. They'd been together for a little more than a month, yet they acted like they'd known each other forever. Since he'd met her, that sparkle never left Louis's eye. He was falling hard, and so was she, even if they didn't know it.

I want that. I want to be happy. I want to find someone I love.

Well, I have. I've found the perfect girl.

She's funny. She's pretty. She's caring. She's beautiful.

But I can't have her.

I found myself gazing longingly at Mel, who was laughing with Liam and a few friends.

Sighing, I closed my eyes and breathed in.

I have to get over her.

I can't keep thinking about her like this. I have to forget her, move on, find someone else, who actually likes me back.

But it's so bloody hard. Seeing her so often. Seeing her happy with someone who's not me. Seeing her with my best friend.

All I want to do is hold her in my arms, call her mine, be the one to make her smile.

God, I need to stop moping around.

And no more movie nights with Harry. I'm starting to sound like a serious sappy idiot.

Sighing, my thoughts moved to those few hours Mel and I had spent together.

Fate is a cruel thing. Out of all the girls in England, Liam had to meet Mel. The same girl I bumped into at a service station.

What a small world.

"Party's so boring that you're falling asleep?"

I groaned internally at the sound of her voice.

Oh god, is this some kind of cruel joke?

I opened my eyes slowly to see Mel hovering over me, that dazzling smile lighting up her face.

Brilliant.

I should try being a total ass to her, maybe it'll be easier to ignore her then.

But how could I possibly be mean to those striking blue eyes?

"Hey," I gave in, giving her a small smile.

"So how come you're alone?" she asked, sitting down next to me.

"Never been one for parties. You?" I shrugged, looking at her. Dressed in a silver shimmery sequin-encrusted off-the-shoulder top with full sleeves, black skinny jeans, and grey flats, she looked beautiful. Her hair was done into a messily perfect side plait, her blonde side fringe sweeping over one eye, and her face had minimal make-up, which made her look even more breath-taking.
