Liam's POV

"Hello?" said the voice on the other side of the line as she answered.

Hey babe," I smiled into the phone, plopping down on the couch.

"Hey Liam," sighed Mel, the exhaustion and unhappiness evident in her voice.

"You okay?" I asked out of worry.

"I'm fine," she said unconvincingly. Mel was always the optimistic one, she always looked on the bright side and she always said she was fine, even if she wasn't.

"You sure about that?" I asked.

"Work's just been really tiring lately, that's all," she said, and I didn't have to be able to see her to know that she was frowning.

"You sound really down," I commented.

"I am. I've been so busy, barey had time to breathe," she said unhappily, "How are you?"

"I'm good," I replied, "We've been busy promoting our album and all,"

"I know. I can't go anywhere without seeing your annoying smiling face," she said with a laugh.

I smiled. Making her laugh made me feel like the most accomplished person in the world.

"You know you love it," I grinned.

"Hmm," she said, as I heard the shuffling of papers. The idiot is a total workaholic, she works way too much for her own good. She needs to get away from those bloody assignments and articles.

I smiled as an idea started forming in my head.

"I miss you," I said honestly, leaning against the back of the couch.

"I miss you too Liam," she said softly.

"Hey, why did the skeleton go to the party alone?" I said suddenly.

"What?" she asked, confused.

"Why did the skeleton go to the party alone?" I repeated.

"Why is a skeleton even going to parties?" she mused.

"Just answer the question," I laughed.

"I don't know, why did he go to the party alone?" she asked, and I could sense the amusement in her voice.

"Because he had no body to go with. Get it? No body?" I delivered the punch line, smirking.

"That was so lame," she said as she burst out laughing.

"But you're laughing," I said with a smile.

"Because I'm nice enough to laugh at your lame jokes so you don't get offended," she said jokingly.

"You're such a good girlfriend to me," I snirked.

"Oh god Liam, I've got to go...work calls,"

"See? You're such a nice girlfriend that you consider work more important than me," I joked.
