"Everything looks good so far...you're getting your nutrients, staying hydrated, and avoiding everything on the list I gave you before, right?"
The blond woman sitting on the medical bed nodded at her niece. "Of course, of course. I've been extremely careful, Florian says I'm being too careful and that I should try to enjoy my pregnancy. But how can I! This has never happened to me in the last twenty years! They told me I couldn't have kids! I should be careful, at my age. Pregnancies can go wrong and I don't want the same thing to happen to me again-"
Rose gave her aunt a light pat on the shoulder. Her long silver-hair was up in a bun, strands of silver framing her pale cheeks. "Aunt Eonjin, I think you'll be fine. Everything looks great at the moment. You're healthy, the baby is active, and you can find me at any time if you need advice or you think something is wrong. Worrying too much will put stress on the baby. Just keep doing what you're doing, all right?"
In the room of the small clinic, Eonjin felt a wave of reassurance wash over her. Despite carrying a child at an older age than most women, she felt more comfortable than before she came in for her check up.
"Gosh, you know exactly what to say to cheer me up, don't you? You're just like your father."
Rose blushed, the color hardly visible on her cold skin. She pretended to sort out some medical instruments on the side of the bed to mask her bashfulness. "Which one?"
Eonjin nearly laughed. "Jimin."
"Ah, yes." Rose helped her aunt stand up from the bed. Eonjin's protruding belly made it harder for her to move around on her own. "So I've been told."
Suddenly, a loud knock sounded at the door. It was accompanied by a deep voice that was out of breath, giddy with news.
"ROSE! GUESS WHAT!"
The silver-haired girl rolled her eyes at her aunt, soon mimicking the person outside with wild facial expressions. Eonjin chuckled at the spot-on impression. Rose even got the crazy arm movements down.
"DO I HEAR EONJIN IN THERE? OH GOSH, I'M SORRY TO INTERRUPT-"
Rose made it to the door, opening it on the man who was standing there out of breath. His red hair was dripping wet, clothes splotched with water in random places. His tan skin sharply contrasted against Rose's--the freckles dusting his cheeks looked like painted red dots with the frequency he spent in the sun.
"Oh, hi Aunt Eonjin!"
Lucio's dimple crested at his aunt when he smiled, quickly disappearing as he took in Rose. As siblings, they couldn't be more different in terms of appearance and disposition, yet somehow they found a common ground in their competitive and caring nature.
"What did you find this time, Luce?" By habit, she fist-pumped Lucio in greeting, as he had adamantly demanded they have their own handshake. Rose didn't care for such silly greetings, but her brother was the most stubborn person she knew. Eventually she adopted the handshake, and whenever she would use it, Lucio would grin annoyingly. "Another piece of dad's swimwear line choking a poor turtle?"
Eonjin grimaced. "Don't remind me about that poor turtle! That was horrible. I told Taehyung not to include so many tassels on the bottoms, so that people swimming wouldn't get stuck in the seaweed! He said, it's their fault for wearing a fashion item in water, they're swimming at their own risk--but when I told him about that turtle, he stopped designing those completely."
