it was the middle of the night and the entire camp was currently in morpheus' realm. percy jackson stepped out of his cabin dressed warmly. he wore a grey, hollister under the black, leather jacket that was creased with months of use in the night. he had black ripped jeans that were torn in six places, yet it hugged his fit legs rather well, percy matched it with nike black air max ninety five. he was not getting white shoes drenched in mud on his first night away.
sighing as he walked over to where the sleeping festus was, percy reminised his moments in camp half-blood. the happy ones, the sad ones, the ones with her, he was thankful for all of them. they shaped his person today, and without them he wouldn't have been so strong against the fates' challenges.
as the son of poseidon made his way downhill, his name was called desperately behind him. he whipped his head around nervously, worrying that it was someone who was going to snitch about his departure. when he was met by a familliar mop of black hair, he sighed, relieved.
"where the hell are you going at this time, perce?" nico asked incredulously, confused as to why the hero of olympus was leaving camp with two bags. he yawned silently, before looking back up at percy expectedly.
the ravenette sighed again. "i'm going somewhere far away, nico. maybe alaska? or canada? i honestly have no idea, just away fom here."
the italian boy stared at him, stunned. when he looked into percy's eyes, he noticed a look he knew too well, an ominous, bleak look that only came from grief or heartbreak. nico had had that look on his face too many times for him to count and he knew that percy would do something reckless. "why would you possibly want to get away?"
percy shrugged and smiled at him sadly. "wouldn't you like to know?" his grip on his backpack tightened slightly as he slung his sports bag over his shoulder. all nico could do was sigh, there was nothing he could do to stop him now, especially when he himself was half-asleep.
"just, iris message me, okay? at least every week so i know you're alive."
the son of poseidon grinned this time, his usual spark returning to him briefly. "sure, neeks." he promised, his sly grin still in place. percy turned around with one last look at the son of hades, and disappeared in a mist of vapour.

it had been twelve weeks since he had run from camp, aimlessly wandering around the streets of canada. percy had crossed the border two weeks ago and was now trying to look for a secure place to stay for the time being. he had come across a currency exchange shop with an amazon in charge. apparently, hylla had wanted to branch out their business and had bought four franchise businesses, which included a currency exchange business. he had exchanged four of his drachmas for forty thousand dollars, which he desperately needed so he could find himself a spot to stay until he had a steady income.
percy had come across a good looking café by the name of deliziosa, and he knew enough italian to know it meant delicious. his stomach rumbled quietly and a light blush formed on his cheeks out of embarassment. he grabbed the doorknob and was about to twist it open when he felt the ground begin to shake, it went from a gentle shake to a violent quake in just under ten seconds. people had started screaming and that had created a mass panic. girls, boys, women, men, children, eldery were all scramming out of the buildings, shoving each other aggressively just so they could get away.
the ground started to split in the middle of the road and created a revine that seemed endless, percy scrambled to get out of there but the ground beneath began to collapse. he tried desperately to grab onto something, anything, that would support his weight. the son of poseidon grabbed onto what remained of the road's cement as he slid down, feeling the cold, unrefined edges of andesite graze against his fingers. if only he had his achilles curse, it would make the search for something stable to hold on a bit more bearable rather than having andesite threaten to pierce his skin. but, it collapsed under his fingers and his body fell into the revine. the air started to become hotter and denser by the second and that's when he knew.
he had fallen into the pit, again.
