I just finished reading about the story of the Romanov family, and holy shit some nightmares are coming my way-
For those of you who don't know, the Romanov's were the last Tsars (royals) of Russia. There was a husband, Nicholas, a wife, Alexandra (one of Queen Victoria's granddaughter), four daughters, Tatiana, Olga, Maria, and Anastasia, and a son, Alexei, who had hemophilia and was supposed to be the heir to the throne.
So, they were all a happy family, but then all of a sudden the Bolsheviks kind of forced the entire family out of their home and moved them across different houses, essentially kidnapping them. They were only allowed outside for one hour a day, there were not enough plates and silverware for all of them, there were no beds or blankets, and they were all locked in a basement.
One day, the Romanovs were woken up in the middle of the night and told to get dressed and pack their things. They were excited, because they thought someone had finally come to rescue them.
As the women were packing up their things, out of no where they were ambushed by their captors and were shot, beat, and stabbed repeatedly. Their father and brother were already killed I'm pretty sure, but the jewels and beads they had sewn to their corsets prior to the ambush essentially acted as a bulletproof vest, so the girls were either shot in the head, stabbed, or beaten to death.
The Romanovs knew they were in trouble whenever they were kidnapped, but they did not expect to be murdered. As it turns out, the plan was very well executed, and the Bolsheviks had been planning it out for months.
After being murdered, five out of the seven bodies were doused in acid, and two of the seven, which were later found out to be Alexei and one of the two younger sisters, were buried.
So yeah, that's a little eery.
