SPOILERS AHEAD, READ WITH CAUTION
Attack on Titan is a manga turned anime that was released in 2013 and very quickly gained quite a lot of traction. It was the most popular Anime that year and is still so popular that I'd honestly think that you're lying if you told me that you'd never heard of it.
This year the Anime and Manga are coming to it's end, which is sad but also happy to many fans such as myself.
Isayama has made it so it is basically impossible the predict how this show will end (props to him because holy shit it takes skill to make so many good plot twists), but here I will be giving you my thoughts on how I think the show will end and who will die along the way.
Please keep in mind that this is just my prediction and I have absolutely no way of telling how the Anime and Manga will end.
Here are the people who I think have the possibility of dying.
-Eren
-Armin
-Jean
-Connie
-Reiner
-Levi
-ZekePlease keep in mind that I don't think that every single person on the list will all die. I would honestly be shocked if that happened. These are just the characters that I feel like could die if the time came for them.
The main ones that I think will die as of right now are Connie and Levi. Whenever someone asked me this my answer would always be "Armin and Eren" but after I put some more thought into it my opinion changed.
Whenever Hange died and we saw a panel of her in heaven, Sasha was turned around and looking off into the distance.
In my opinion, she is probably waiting for Connie. Why else would she be turned away? Not to mention that Connie is miserable without his family or Sasha too, so much so that he was willing to sacrifice Falco to his mother's titan.
As for Levi, I think this one is obvious. He's the oldest of the group, and has lost literally every single person he's cared about. He's fought his fight, and I feel like that if or when he dies we'll get a panel of him seeing Hange and everyone else. He's happy, finally being able to see all of his lost friends, but then we see his mother in the distance. He runs up to her, they meet up once again, and we finally see Levi cry. That's how I envision Levi's fate.
I say Jean because he doesn't have much of a purpose other than fighting if I'm being quite honest. He hasn't had a character arc of any sorts, hasn't been too beneficial to the current plot, and it was also revealed that his goal was to marry Mikasa in a certain chapter where he was having a dream.
A pattern that I have noticed with Isayama is that whenever a character has a certain goal, they either succeed or die.
For example, Erwin's suicide mission (failed), The rescue missions for Eren (succeeded), making it to the basement (succeeded), going to see the ocean (succeeded), etc.
I'm not saying that this is always the case, but I do feel as if Isayama has set up a pattern. Jean's (who I have actually grown from hating to liking quite a bit) goal is, in my opinion, very unlikely or even impossible.
Let's take a moment to think about how it would be if Jean succeeded in marrying and having a family with Mikasa. Jean would always be Mikasa's second pick, and Jean would know that. Even if he succeeded Jean's dream still isn't very happy for anyone.
I also stand by the opinion that there is no "Kasa" in JeanKasa. JeanKasa is one of the better ships that I dislike, but Mikasa has absolutely no feelings for Jean. The entire ship just seems kind of loveless.
For Zeke: He's older, and I either see him being killed by one of the scouts or joining their side if they bring Eren home. I honestly like Zeke a lot, but I can't really see any other end for him.
Reiner. He's incredibly miserable and guilt ridden, has tried killing himself once, and I'm honestly pretty neutral on whether he'll die or not, but it's still enough to put him on the list.
As for Eren and Armin, it's pretty obvious as to why I think they will die, but I do not think that they will die because of Ymir's curse and I don't think that they will both die. I would be shocked if Ymir's curse wasn't broken by the end of the show, and I just cannot see both Eren and Armin dying.
The reason I didn't put Mikasa or Annie is because of this:
I feel like Isayama has a misery scale of some sort, and Mikasa and Annie are both the "perfect" amount of miserable in what I think is Isayama's terms. They're depressed, suicidal, and are in a constant state of guilt and hopelessness, but still have people that they care about alive and have something to fight for which gives Isayama enough of a reason to keep them alive.
(Plus Isayama has shown a lot of favoritism to Mikasa inside of AoT and out so that's another reason why I think she's safe)
Also these:
Mikasa: Mikasa has three sets of plot armor on her:
-She's the last hope of the Hizuru clan
-She and Levi are the last Ackermans
-She's the main heroine
-Death is just highly unlikely for herPutting ships aside, this is kind of why I feel like Mikasa has a chance at succeeding with bringing Eren back. If she was killed off without anything big happening it would be pretty unnecessary and honestly pretty disappointing. With the Eren situation I have a feeling that she's either going to get to his head (seeming as she's always in his thoughts and it's been proven time and time again that he does in fact care about her deeply) and bring him home, or something will cause some sort of final fight to happen. I do not think Mikasa is going to die though. She doesn't give off the same feelings as all of the other characters who I think will die do, and she's been proven to be very important to more than just her friends and the taking down of the titans.
As for Annie, she just broke out of her crystal, is in the middle of development, was just basically confirmed into a ship, and has the misery theory going for her, so I believe that she is safe. If I had to bet between her or Armin dying I would place all of my money on Armin.
Getting the deaths out of the way, I have five possible endings:
1. The ultra happy ending: Mikasa and everyone else bring Eren home and no one dies.
Likelihood: 2% possibility
2. The happy ending: Mikasa and everyone else bring Eren home, but lose Connie, Jean, and Levi.
Likelihood: 40% possibility
3. The bitter but mostly sweet ending: They successfully bring Eren home, but some sort of final fight happens resulting in the loss of Connie, Jean, Levi, and Armin.
Likelihood: 55% possibility
4. The bittersweet ending: The scouts do not succeed in bringing Eren back which leads to the deaths of Eren, Connie, Jean, and Levi. Mikasa is sad, but not as sad as she could be because she ended up getting closure on Eren and got a final scarf wrap.
Likelihood: 65%-70% possibility
5. The tragic end: Everyone dies
Likelihood: 10% possibility
Of course, this entire essay was just my thoughts and opinions and feel free to disagree. Please let me know if you agree or not, and please tell me why in the comments because I'm always up for a good debate. Thank you for reading!
