I'm still not used to waking up with no bright sunlight shining through the windows. It's still dark and cloudy. It's been a while since I've seen this view outside. Mrs. Carole used to be me and Maddie's babysitter. It's weird how I don't remember her.

It's been a whole month since I've moved back and nothing has changed around Ephis. However, I haven't seen any vampires and werewolves ever since I came back. Well, it makes sense because I've been trying to avoid going outside a lot. But today is gonna change, I'm gonna get a job.

I quickly sat up from my bed and smelled Mrs. Carole's food from downstairs. I changed into black jeans, a white T-shirt, and a denim jacket. I brushed some blush on my cheeks and a light layer of mascara. Lastly, I put my hair up in a ponytail for the finishing touch. "Finally I look decent for once." You chuckled to yourself.

You entered the kitchen seeing Mrs. Carole cooking eggs and bacon which made your mouth water.

"Morning Mrs. Carole! Let me help you with the cooking, I feel bad since you've been making food for me the past month." She smiled back at me.

"Aw darling don't worry about it! I've missed cooking for you when ya'll were little. It brings back me memories" I giggled. She passed me my plate as we began eating.

I took a bite out of the bacon and gave her a thumbs up. She grinned widely and continued eating. "Hey Mrs. Carole..." She gave me her attention.

"I've been thinking about getting a job." Mrs. Carole went silent, was she okay?

"Um Mrs. Carole?" I snapped her out of her thoughts.

"Oh um yes darling, um it's been getting really dangerous out there in Ephis these past few years, and I'm just a worried old lady." Letting her head down.

I understand how she feels, I'm worried for myself too, but if I'm going to live here for awhile, I need to at least make some money to rebuild my childhood home. That's my goal.

I move my hand above hers reassuring her that I'll be fine. Mrs. Carole looked up at me, she trusts me and she knows that I can't stay here forever. "Okay darling, you can get a job. Just be careful." I was excited, these are the first steps to reach my goal.

After we finished eating our breakfast, I began washing the dishes. "So darling, what job are you thinking about applying to?" She said watching me do the dishes.

"I'm not sure. I haven't really thought about it. I'm going to walk around town today and see if there's any openings." You gave her a small smile.

"I'll go with you" She walked off grabbing her cane and her purse ready to go.

"Oh, you don't have to go, I don't wanna tire you out."

"I'll be absolutely fine darling, I gotta protect you." Mrs. Carole grabbed a couple of little syringes and stuffed them in her bag. You were absolutely confused. But you ignored the thought and cleaned up the kitchen before heading out.
