"Why do you look so nervous? I thought, at least after listening to my drunken words, that we would not have had a lot of boundaries between us," pointed Vrinda, smirking at his visible discomfort. She could see the way his breaths staggered and the slight twitches in his muscles showing the conflict with his own mind.
"Well..."
"How far did we go?"
Vivaan cleared his throat at her question and his eyes almost bulged out of their socket before he regained control over himself. She seemed to be comfortable with the idea, unlike what he had expected. She was never the one to shy or back off, and her actions told the tale of their passion and desire, but he did not assume that he would see that side of her soon.
"Far enough to get worried about the failure rate of contraception," he answered, shutting his eyes for a brief moment as he felt the flashes of their moments in throes of passion replay on the canvas of his heart.
Vrinda raised an eyebrow at his choice of words before an arduous crimson hue splayed itself and highlighting themselves across her facial features, with the hints of a concealed smile tugging at her lips.
"Then why are you so nervous? I just don't want to be alone tonight. Losing something is always a pain but not realizing what we have lost, not knowing the real extent and bearing of that loss, that is just... dreadful. I just want to know - tonight - that not everything is lost," she muttered, averting her eyes veiled by the dark bow of her lashes, which descended in the same fashion as the pink bow of her lips which curved downwards.
"I cannot imagine how hard it would be for you. You loved reminiscing and talking about the past, you know? Always full of tales from the childhood which none of us could remember as well as you did. Sometimes I wish I was the one who had lost my memory..."
"Vivaan..."
"No, I am serious. If I had lost my memory, I would have had the most reliable narrator. I don't know if I am doing enough justice to your memories, your past, and you," he said, wrapping his fingers around her hand, which had stopped him as he inched closer to her.
"I want to know my past, Vivaan, but I don't think it makes any difference about the accuracy. It is like a story for me, whose protagonist is relatable to me, that's all. The pain of the moment, the bliss, the anger, the ecstasy. I would never feel them for myself, but what matters is the present, Vivaan. With you by my side, I feel that all is not lost. Impersonating as someone else might have been tougher than what I can imagine and the way everyone speaks of our separation, I guess you might have had your reasons. But promise me, no more hiding."
She stretchrd her palm in front of him with hints of a grin tugging at the edges of her lips. He placed his palm over hers, guilt bruising his already wounded conscience as he felt the cauldron of his wrongdoings increase after being reminded of their separation. "I promise. No half-truths, no lies!"
"So, tell me, when was our first kiss?" she teased, smirking at him with a naughty twinkle in her eyes, cashing on his discomfort.
"Seriously?" groaned Vivaan, flushing with the memory of their sloppy first kiss.
"Yes! You thought you will just tell me the general plot and leave away the juicy details? So mean of you," she remarked, clutching his hand tightly and pulling him closer as he attempted to walk away from that conversation.
"Why do you want to talk about our first kiss? I can tell many better stories," replied Vivaan, visibly self-conscious and discomfited by the situation.
"Your reaction to this question is making the answer more appealing, Vivaan. Or are you the shy kind and I was the romantic one?" she questioned, cocking an eyebrow at him in question as she traced her finger northwards towards his biceps playfully.
Vivaan crinkled his eyebrows, reminiscing that moment of absolute incompatibility they had faced. "Well, you can't expect the first kiss to be out of the world, right? It was awkward and let's just say that our kissing styles don't match, okay?"
"Oh, and why do you say that?" she asked, curiosity gleaming in her eyes.
"Well, you were spit conscious, but your friends, who were rattled that you did not kiss me despite two months of being in a relationship, provoked you. So, we tried kissing and I guess it just fell flat," he replied, chuckling slightly as he narrated the incident. It felt awkward playing it out in his mind, but as he narrated it, he could feel the laughter bubbling inside him.
It was Vrinda's turn to blush as she learned the real reason behind his aversion to speak about the incident. She bit her lips as she imaged that awkward scene in her mind.
"But I kissed you in your room a few days ago. I did not feel any aversion towards that," she pointed, gazing at him suggestively with hesitance in her eyes being replaced by a naughty twinkle.
"Maybe because your inhibitions were imposed by your parents. Maybe they never thought that it will interfere with your love life," he replied, chuckling at the thought of her conservative parents thinking about anything close to her love life.
Vrinda giggled in reply at his explanation. "Maybe. We can test the theory right now."
She cupped his warm jaw, feeling his five o'clock shadow against her cold and clammy fingers. She gazed at him longingly through the veil of her eyelashes before they caressed her cheek as their lips united, causing a burst of emotions in her heart. A wave of goosebumps and a myriad of emotions took over them when he leaned towards her, wrapping his arms around her waist. Another hand of his cradled her head as she dipped southwards, bringing him over herself.
Her other arm linked itself around his neck, descending into the bed, relishing the way his lips caressed hers almost reverently. Their fingers almost dug into each other's skin as their passion heightened before they separated because of the lack of oxygen. Their imagination and hormones ran wild and their dilated pupils and staggered breaths expressed their desires to feel the ecstasy once again, but Vivaan did not want to rush in.
"We should sleep," remarked Vivaan, huffing slightly as he smirked at her.
"Are you sure that you were not the shy kind, and I was not the one to start everything between us? So unromantic you are," she teased in fake derision, challenging him through her eyes.
"You will get to test your theory when you get well soon, completely. Trust me, I have every intention of proving your theory wrong and guess we can add some kind of punishment for theorizing so falsely. I am ready to wait for the time where you will feel every thing, reciprocate and match every action of mine with your own, and then, nothing will stop me."
